Wiki link Depends on what firewire you have - some are faster than USB (which is why some external hard drives can be hooked up via firewire rather than USB) ... ClareJonsson Posted August 18, 2007 Share Posted August 18, 2007 It's also worth noting that Firewire actually takes less system resources to shuffle data around than USB. The reason for this is that USB is all done in software so to actually move data the CPU does most of the work, where as Firewire it's mainly done with hardware. Reminds me of when modems became cheap and a lot of them had problems on low end PCs as they were software modems.
