August 19, 200718 yr So I recently got a new TV for my dorm room. I've been trying to connect my xbox 360 using a Psyclone Universal component cable. The TV is set for component and I am hooking it up in the correct place. The problem is is that the picture is messed up, either duplicated or just not right. I went to the video settings but they have no option for 480i, Only 480p and above. The TV is set for just 480i so I'm confused here, because the 360 does support 480i. I've been trying to look for a while but I can't find anything that will help. Thats why I'm turning to you guys to see if anyone has any suggestions.

It does varrious things from colors getting screwed up, brightness going up or down, the screen picture just moving around a lot... doesn't really stay one way.
August 20, 200718 yr Author Tried a different cable, same thing. Its mostly splitting the image in two on the screen right now. I'm using a Samsung 20" SlimFit TV TX-T2082 for my TV right now. It has a component hook up in the back but just isn't working out. the xbox works fine on my monitor but I want it to work on the TV.
August 20, 200718 yr Check you don't have POP or something turned on. So far it seems like the TV might be faulty.
August 20, 200718 yr Ok, this is going on the little knowledge on tvs I have. Is the tv a plasma, lcd or a tube (big) tv? I believe the lcd and plasmas only support P resolutions and the tube tvs only support I resolution. It's how the picture is rendered, nothing to do with quality. Try and set it to the correct render.

Try and set it to the correct render. Well its a 'flat' screen but the TV goes back a bit. This is the TV I'm just going through my monitor for now, kind of gave it up on the TV. We might be getting a used PS2 for cheap to use on the TV lol.
August 23, 200718 yr This is a Samsung odd ball CRT... A CRT Low Depth. This TV is computer controlled because of the Low Depth. If the computer is not working right the color and saturation will be "off", plus there will we heavy warping. Is this a problem only with XBox, or is it will all video going to the TV?

I don't have anything else I can hook up to the TV to test that sadly. Cable works just fine though.
August 23, 200718 yr My guess is it is your XBox Cable, or 480p vs 480i... But if it is in I not P I don't think you would see any video at all.
August 25, 200718 yr Can detect 480i/480p/1080i/720p to ensure you get the highest quality picture the xbox is 480i, but your tv is missing that... call samsung?
