My RuneScape Animated Images for use on the site.

Featured Replies

Hello, I am Tarikochi, or more commonly known as ChikoritaPro.

I have created a large amount of RuneScape GIF animations that I feel would be a waste if they are not put to use.

My animations consist of a huge variety of subjects, and as of this moment, I have 233 images.

-----

I have them all attached into a ZIP file found here:

http://files.filefront.com/tarikochiani ... einfo.html

-----

If you prefer, you can also attain them at the following link:

http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Categor ... Animations

-----

The only thing I request if you choose to use these images is if you place the appropriate credits listed within the individual image (in particular, my name, ChikoritaPro/Tarikochi and some images that may involve other people's help). There is no need to reference to the Wikia, but feel free to do so if you are willing.

I also request that you do not restrict others from being able to use the image.

-----

To prove that I allow these animations to be used outside of the RuneScape Wikia, here is a contract I have created:

http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/User:Ta ... gecontract

The Wiki's signature is the ~~~~'s, so it is signed by me, alongside marked in the history, and is enough to show I permit usage on the website.

-----

If there is needed proof to verify who I am, then please give me a time and username so that I can contact you in-game RuneScape. I am still wearing my usual outfit seen in the majority of those animations.

I currently do not take any requests at this moment, as I am not currently active in RuneScape.

-----

Please take the above into consideration, and thanks for reading this. As mentioned, if you decide to use my animated images, please place in the appropriate credits found in the individual images' descriptions on the Wikia, especially my name ChikoritaPro/Tarikochi.

I hope my animations will help improve the RuneScape community further.

Pretty nice, shame the Wiki thing wont load for me .

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Hmm, I'm not sure why it's not working, but you can try refreshing it. I would recommend downloading them, but I understand if people do not want to risk downloading dangerous files.

For now, I can give links to some of the animations:

Some of my animations are also on Wikipedia, so they might be somewhat well known.

A lot of them are quite nice. However, tip.it is a very large site, and has bandwidth issues. I think that some of them (like the barbarian bare-handed fishing one) would be useful on the site, though they will probably have to be scaled down.

Someone posted an animated GIF here and pokemama responded:

wow, it's a very nice graphic. However, at 32K the file size is a bit large. We have to limit the amount and size of graphics we use, in order to be kind to users and due to the amount of site traffic we get.

Thanks though, it really looks super!

OK, anything that I write from here on in is me speaking as a maintainer of the Bestiary Crew, and not the Crew or website in general.

I for one am instructed to use as lower quality images as is possible to a reasonable extent. In other words, so long as the purpose of the image has been met, I needn't worry about the quality of the image. Therefore, from a Bestiary point of view, I would have to decline using these images, even though they are quite remarkable pieces of work! You should be proud - information on Wikipedia doesn't get on there easily - I know too well! =D>

The guides editors on the Crew (I think) abide by that same request. It's simply to make things fairer on users with low-speed internet, such as dial-up. We don't want them waiting 15 seconds for an image to download that frankly adds no more substance to the guide than a low quality image, or no image at all, would. Don't hold me to that though, I'll allow them to have their say on the matter. But, and this is the opinion of someone who works on the Bestiary, there is no way I could justify putting these images onto our monster database, as much as I'd like too. I hope you understand my reasoning. :)

In fact, I'll actually alert the Crew Leader to this thread, and allow him to make a decision on this.

That's reasonable; I understand.

I did consider memory as an issue and decided to use the best quality and let others crop it down, but I doubt it can go down to as low as 30KB with even the most serious cropping. The majority of my small images average around 150 KB :? .

I'm glad that it's considered though :) .

Those are very good images, and of good quality, but as it's already been said, we do have bandwidth issues a lot of the time.

When we use animated gifs, we try to use them only when 100% necessary. If I remember right, an average page on the site is 150-200kb, and most of those gifs are that if not more.

Like I said, they are great, but unusable on the site because of their size.

That's not wikipedia, it is just a random wiki made by somebody on a free host... the images are pretty neat though.

Follow the link. I think you'll find that's Wikipedia.

Well, now that MPM's given his final word, I see no further room for discussion. I'll lock this.
