Intelligent Design vs. Creationism.

Yes, it is another Christianity thread. And it's here because in all the topics I've read, people are mistaking Christians for eitherthe rabid creationists who are desperately trying to prove that the earth is 6000 years old or Catholics who don't even know what they're supposed to believe.

An example, from another topic -

(1) The issue of free will:

When God made man, he gave him free will so that man would chose whether to follow God or reject him.

However this is where it fails, it says free will for every man̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ But that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not true, since not everyone has free will on this earth:

A simple example of a baby being born with aids, and then dying 2 weeks later, where is his free will?

I can accept that his parents had free will to have sex, but why should his free will be taken away from him? He suffers from their free will?

That's right. The baby might not have lived to his life's fullest potential. But what happens to him? He never accepted Jesus, so is he really a Christian, which they believe will go to heaven?

And that's the whole point of Jesus' death. [Note - I'm not trying to force this on you. The following is the belief of Christians, so take it as you will.] When he died for these humans that he created, he gave us that ability to be able to go to heaven.

BUT WAIT! Creation didn't just happen like that! God didn't just MAKE Adam and Eve!

And there lies the difference between creationism and intelligent design. Intelligent design shares with evolutionism the theory that life came from self-replicating RNA molecules which formed from amino acids. That process has been proven and reproduced TODAY, by the way.

Sure, many creationists completely reject the idea of the Big Bang. But even if it DID happen, who are we to say that God didn't want to create the earth over millions/billions of years?

I don't know, but the Christian God going through all that jazz when he could have just snapped his metophorical fingers and created Adam, Eve and the whole damn universe does not sound plausible to me. Why go through all that? Deception, something the christian God isn't capable of apparently.

This claim sounds more suited to a deist than a Christian.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Who said most Creationists don't believe the big bang? Most theological scholars do.

We arn't to say, i am only saying what sounds plausible. Since the christian God is perfection he must have been able to do it in less than an instant. The only reason i can see for going through evolution is deception, hence this is more of a deist theory. I dont think it neccessarily fits in with the Christian-Judeo God.
