geesch
high alching is one of the fastest and most cost effective ways to train mage. you could alch yew/mage longs that you either fletch or buy or you could go to mage training arena and cast enchants. for combat mage, you could go to barrows a lot (sounds funny, i know, but i have lvled many times there) or another popular one is to bring a bunch (and i mean a bunch) of either magic dart spells or fire bolt spells with chaos gauntlets down to steel drags. if you are lucky with the steels, you could come out making millions or you could come out losing. i always lose lol, but i know many people get lots of d leg/skirt drops there and even some visages. maybe you could be a lucky one and get a visage. good luck :)
Mat
high alching is great, and then just get ranged up high to make up for all the hp levels you missed.
Xeones
Buy Yew Longbows 600ea and Natures 300ea. You Alch them for 768gp. So, it's basically 65xp for 132gp. 65k xp/hour isn't unheard of.
J35u5_M4
you can buy yew longs 600ea and buy pure essence and make your own natures, of course it's slower, but you don't lose money, you win, if money isn't a problem then just buy the nats Slayer dart at barrows is pretty good xp also using fire bolts + chaos gauntlets at steel dragon
