Nom
I find it to be incredibly distracting if the music has lyrics, because I automatically want to listen to and understand them. I generally work better in a quiet environment anyway.
i_trollz_u
To me it depends on how awesome or catchy the music is. Unfortunately for me, the more awesome a song is the less attention I pay to my homework.
lee030792
i study with music. whenever i forget a term on an exam, i just simply sing the song then i instantly remember it. o.O
Ginger_Warrior
Listening to my music when studying? Definitely a bad thing. My recent grades confirm this. Listening to music while going through stuff for Tip.It? Definitely a good thing. Stops me getting bored too easily. I guess it just depends on what you're doing. When I'm talking to someone, I can't listen to music. I can't focus on talking and listening. When learning, I can't listen to music. But when actually doing work which doesn't require so much concentration? I find it's uplifting. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
baron8000
Well I'm listening to Guns n Roses whilst reading Constitutional law reports and I seem to be doing ok :D
atestarossa
well.. i do agree a bit on the one saying lyrics are distracting... but instrumental can be as well. I like to listen to music while studying, expecially if i'm tired... never put on prog, metal, or other heavy music when you're studying, way too distracting... putting on some light music, brit rock... or some light classical music like Bach works good. (btw, try putting on Keane, Travis or such while you sleep... you'll sleep as good as you've never done, and getting up in the morning is nothing =D )
foolgool
It definitely helps me. Sometimes, when I hear a song from a CD that I own, I can remember exactly what I was reading when I heard the song. For example, I associate the Beautiful Letdown, by Switchfoot, entirely with the second book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy. The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132.
