Random Events ~ A small update

Featured Replies

Randoms. We love and hate um. But mostly hate um. But what is more annoying to a random then the explanation of it? A closer look: (BTW, there is a lot more annoying to a random then the explaination, to all the smart guys out there)

MIME-Honestly, after the explantation, it takes foever before the event starts.

F. FORESTER-This one is needed. Disconsider this one

EXAM-More clicking than I'd like. I know what to do, you don't have to tell me every time!

PINBALL-Also more clicking that I'd like. If you click on the screen to walk, it stills forever before you can start tagging.

MAZE-Needed. If you are caught by suprise, you don't want to lose precious percentage points.

MOLLY-If it was my world, his noob would have been gone a long time ago. If it was my world, these would ALL have been gone a long time ago. Molly is not the worst when considering explaintations, but it does take a while to get past. I know you can click on the door to shorten to conversation, but it doesn't help by much.

LEO-It's long, and if you click out of it, you gotta still go through it! When he checks the graves it also takes a while.

QUIZMASTER-You can't even move in this one, nor is there a "click to continue".

PRISON PETE-Not long, and not bad. But when he checks the key, that takes a while.

EVIL BOB'S ISLAND-Not long, again. But it is rather annoying when you want it over.

PIOUS PETE-Never have gotten it, so I can't say.

And to the other ones I can't remember, I'll get you next time!

My suggestion? Have the doomsayer remove explainations of randoms once you get them a certain amount of times. 5? 10? Of course, if you do forget how to do it, and you are stuck in an event, there should be a button to press taht gives the explaination. You know how in most events the top row of menus disappear? Well, one of them should be replaced by an explaination button, which you can press to start over the event and recieve the explaination. You can toggle the explainations on and off from this menu too.

The point? To lower the amount of time spent on randoms.

I like some of those...

I particularily want to see the Mime event streamlined. You're right that it takes too long to start, and I think FOUR mimes is too much.

Same with the Sergent Major... FOUR tasks is also too much.

Remember Evil Bob's fishing, you had to catch several fish. Jagex finally seen sense and dropped it to just the one... they should apply a similar concept to many of the current random events.

I like the randoms they mix up skilling constantly.

Gems ftw!

Making them shorter only helps macros.

Ok, I know it breaks the boredom. I have not nearly as much experience skilling as you do, but I can still say this: random events help skills a lot, especcially when you are bored mining, cooking, firemaking etc. Most randoms have good rewards, although I think higher total levels should get better rewards, that is not the issue right now. And please don't talk about this now.

I am not saying to get rid of rewards, nor even touch upon them.

How would it benefit macros? Surely they can click a few times?

But sometimes the explainations just get annoying, and waste time. Most aren't bad, but some are.

All I am saying is to remove the dialong in the begining of most events. (A few exceptions, such as maze)

Good suggestion, you have my support. I particularly liked how you didn't suggest completely eliminating randoms like some other ranters out there. What you've got is a good ol' fashion original idea. This would definately make randoms a lot less frustrating! :)

Smither- Getting rid of dialogs wouldn't benifit macros. All they have to do is literally click "click to continue" several times; something easily programmed in a few minutes. I don't think eliminating the dialogs in random events will drastically benifit autoers.

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

S U P P O R T, the doomsayer idea is good, but what about the drill demon random?
