Hobgoblin11
Hi guys I just started using Terragen to mess about with, and came up with the following after a fair few hours work. I know they say don't post your first attempts, but I thought some of these were pretty good. Any C/C? By the way, if anyone could tell me a few more free 3D Modelling or Landscaping programs, tht would be much appreciated! At present I only have Terragen, Truespace and Blender (which I have yet to figure out how the hell to use it!!) Thanks a lot Im not sure about this one. I've had some positive feedback, but I really dont know how it will go down. Views please! (above) This is one of my favourites. Nadril
wow, i can honestly say i think you have a great future in terragen. your images still somewhat suffer from the normal terragen terrains (get world machine at http://www.world-machine.com its awsome) but your surface maps... well they are good for a beginner, even a slightly more advanced person. your "favorite" one is my fav too, i also like the one where you upped the reflection of the water. it has a cool look to it. now, onto C&C: Try and learn to make beaches. Basicly, make a sand "layer" that is only present at lower altidudes, and well, you can figure it out. Also make sure that your landscape doesn't just cut-off. like you want to be able to see land a decent ways back, its mostly just something that looks more realistic. don't be afraid to work with your atmospheres more, but be carefull so they don't turn out like the orange one you have there. also, make sure you don't get alot of "un-natural" terrains. Like don't get a bunch of realy pointy mountains, or things you know you wouldn't see in real life. So overall, great work for a beginner! I can't wait to see more of your stuff :) ps: check out my landscapes tips and hints thing under my sig, it can help :P
gandorf_101
well i think ur great for a beginer but when i tryed terragen it was too easy seemed like all u had to do was fiddle around and.. "viola" a perfectly good landscape... hmmm maybe if u start adding in trees and stuff like nads ones they might look cooler and take a lil more skill... Which i can put trees into. And trust me, clicking something for a tree wouldn't take much more "skill" either. Terragen is more about having a good eye, and knowing how stuff works.
