Bloodredsword
I'm not sure if this should be in tech and computers...but since this is pertaining directly to gaming... I have a laptop...and thats what I use for video game stuff because my mom doesn't like me to use our desktop for stuff other then h/w. :x The laptop itself isn't that good....with only 512mb of ram and the video card isn't that special either. So the best I can run right now is guild wars prophecies and factions. Nothing else will work. So I'm wondering if there is anyway to significantly boost/replace my video card. Any help would be appreciated. Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board!
assassin_696
I think this is better suited in T&C. :) "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

zaquierming
No. You will have to buy a new laptop with a better video card. It would help if we knew what card you were running, it may be other things that aren't able to run the more demanding games. Possibly your ram, or processor. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.
Bloodredsword
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest Someone showed me that.. Video Card: Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family (Intel® GMA 950) System stuff: Intel® Celeron® M CPU 420 @ 1.60GHz 502mb ram(supposed to be 512...lol. now who says the manuals don't lie) One thing that's really weird is the fact that sysreqlab.com said that my comp could handle WoW(minimum) but it can't. I've tried. It loads the character creation page and when I click to go ingame...I get sound but no vid, and then my comp proceeds to crash. There isn't something similar to an external hd, but its a video card? Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board! There isn't something similar to an external hd, but its a video card? Nope, there is no such thing as external video cards. The 502mb of ram is 512mb but some is probably used for the graphics card. You could possibly upgrade your ram to 1GB to make your games more playable. The Wow thing you may be able to fix with a simple driver update. Intel has greatly improved their drivers in the last 2 months. Download from here.
Bloodredsword
Thanks very much for the driver link...I hadn't thought about that I was thinking of upgrading my ram to mabye 1.5gigs...but I have no $$ :P Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Doomster
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intel945gm/ - More info Particularly, check out the Game compatibility list http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/i ... 021400.htm The GMA900/950 are rather limited DirectX9 solutions, with Pixel shader 2.0 in hardware (because software emulation is too slow to be practical), but vertex shader and T&L in software - which many games will not accept.
