Nadril
What, exactly, did you do? It looks like a quick color change and a little bit of a motion blur near the shield. Not really impressing, especially considering runescape out of anything is not a good stock to base anything off of (hint, the game looks horrid)
SubtleKilling
First of all, it's the first time i've made a sig in a couple of weeks now, and I had a lack of ideas, so I thought i'd challenge myself by using a RS screen. Started off by taking out the zombie hand (I used the zombie hand emote to stand the way im standing in the pic) with the spot healing tool. Then started smudging around the bottom left of the character, added some C4Ds in changed the blending modes, used a spatter brush around the character and smudged a bit more. After that, I focussed on lighting and used a default brush and lowered opacity in the top right corner, then focussed the lighting to the center and made the edge of staff the focal point. After that, applied loads of subtle gradient maps, photofilters, colour balance etc. And finally added text in the bottom right so it doesn't get ripped. Thats exactly what I did. I use a lot of subtle effects, a contradiction of a lot of sigs i've seen around the gallerys here which mainly consist of heavy use of filters, sloppy placed C4Ds, downloaded brushes etc.. Nom
I like it, it actually has some artistic value to it unlike most other stuff here. I have to agree with your statement about what seems to have become the norm for all "good" signatures. Honestly, I couldn't care less that you used 50 layers, or that you can use c4ds (whatever the hell those are, I use PSP X) like a madman, it doesn't make or break a sig. The only thing I would suggest for this is that you add some kind of border, or do something else to make all that extra space less detracting. At the moment it's missing something that will complete it, if you will.
pryomancer
It looks dark and atmospheric, which I'm sort of into at the moment. It looks nice, at least. Just appreciate the image for its face value, it looks good when you look at it that way.

And I said a few effects because even if you did take a long time to do it subtly you can easily reproduce that in a few effects.
robo
i like it, always nic to c a runscape render on a runescape site lol, not to many of those l8ly, i find it hard to do actualy i can do good with all else but never rs lol good job with it, looks to me like somthin u would call "the wondering mage" Sig by thru, yaff, ty both :)
venomai
Meh.. I would call that artistic. Not in the sense that the OP did the art, but in the sense that the screen shot at least has some decent composition and an interesting mood. I've seen a lot of RS screen shots, and although they're all really horrible to look at, this one isn't so bad. Anyways... as it's been said there wasn't much to the piece. Most (all) of the credit goes to Jagex artists. And I didn't see the text until you pointed it out. :|
Nadril
I guess what I meant is he himself didn't do too much, most of the credit goes to jagex. You are correct that the screenshot at least has a decent composition however. And I just noticed the text too.
pryomancer
Add a nice cinematic border and move the text so it doesn't get cut off. :D I saved it as a bad jpg deliberately.
