3ds Max 9 Crashing

Featured Replies

I'm not exactly where this belongs wbut it is a tech issue. I'm working on an animation and I'm using 3ds max 9 with IKSpline solvers on my bones to rig. Something is wrong where when i link the pointer helpers for the sholders to the body, and then link the oposite ends to dummy objects ( for better animation) my file with crash. It specificly happens after i save the file, close, and reopen it. I get an error stating:

"An error has occured and the Application will now close. Do you want to attempt to save a copy of the current scene?" with the usual "ok" "Cancel" buttons.

This has pretty much put a halt on my animation and i cant go any further till i figure out a way around it. I mean yea i guess i could do manual manipulation of each of the bones but that would take so much more time and The project is due at begining of december, and I need time to render it and polish it with sound in after affects..

I'd be very greatful for any and all help

thanks in advance

Sometimes projects get buggy, that's why you need to make multiple backup copies of your work in 3ds max. Happened to me before.

By the way this isn't the right forum to ask these kind of questions, going to the 3ds max based forum would be much better.

Yeah not many people probably have much technical experience with 3D studio max.

I'd love to help, but I use Cinema 4D. :(

I generally agree with this, however my first instinct says that you should try a different rig than IKSpline for your animation :-?

Thanks I'm going to try a few different Solvers to see if any of them work, but I found some info on a site talking about 3ds Max being buggy when it comes to scaling bones(which i have done) so im going to try remaking my whole skeleton and see if that helps(minus scaling them).

Denismage: I DO have multiple copies, the problem is at one point(rigging is pretty much a precedure) the file will refuse to open again. Its like having to drive to the store, but if you save progress after getting into the car. And if you try to open the file after youve gotten into the car it will crash. And marathoning to the end is just not an option. And i thought Id ask here since RS gamers / tipiters are a rather eclectic group (ive been asking everywhere actually lol and > < close to just emailing autodesk)

Thanks again guys
