[Q] Range Training Equipment

Hey,

 

 

 

I decided to train some range levels on not so hight combat monsters like:

 

 

 

Ogres - trained on they up to 76 ranged;

 

Fire Giants - current moment - i hit not bad they (up to 15) and enought fast they die...

 

 

 

Maybye i will seek later monsters with combat level similar to my ranged level i not sure, my priority is range training (exp) not loot (money) then I don't think to kill dragons, just maybye red dragons because they are not crowded, but i tested at the moment i poor hit they and i understand then is bad idea to kill they for XP.

 

 

 

Current my equipment:

 

 

 

Weapon: My deadly Dorgeshuun c'bow :D - i really love this weapon, because with that C'bow devastating power i hit better then MSB+Addy arrows and hit rate is better and it are so cheap and have shooting speed like whip;

 

Head: Robinhood hat (it replacable with archer helm);

 

Body: Guthix Dragonhide (same bonuses as Black D'hide body);

 

Legs: Black D'hide chaps;

 

Gloves: Barrows gloves - Like i know Black D'hide vambs give +11 ranged bonus and Barrows gloves +12;

 

Boots: Snakeskin (I know then I can replace Snakeskin with Ranger boots)

 

Ring: Ring Of Whealth - i know then i can replace it with archer ring.

 

Cape: Ava accumulator - it give some ranged bonus;

 

Amulet: Glory;

 

Shield: Regular Anti-Dragon Shield

 

 

 

Main priorities:

 

 

 

1. Main priority is ranged attack bonus (more damage) and not defence!

 

Best defence is good offence! Whatever i kill not so hight lvl monsters and in they melee attack situations they are not deadly for me - Karils have same ranged attack bonuses like Black Dragonhide then Karils is useless and just money waste in my situation.

 

 

 

2. No equipment for 1M+ prices like fury ammies or karils, I use Robinhood hat and Guthix dragonhide just because i have it.

 

 

 

Questions:

 

 

 

1. What is best shield item for ranged attack bonus? I start to think then in RS is no any shield item which give ranged attack bonus, i checked TIP.IT Ranged skill guide and found none.. maybye is Crystal shield? i not sure or it give ranged attack bonus, i know then it give ranged defence bonus but this is not important to me.

 

 

 

Tested:

 

Obby shield (it drain ranged atk bonus)

 

Rune kite (it drain ranged atk bonus)

 

Anti-Dragon shield - currently use, it don't give ranged attack bonus, but this shield not drain this bonus too and give some extra defence.

 

 

 

2. How about Void knight equipment?, i saw one guy then guy used it and he said then Void knight equipment have better ranged attack bonus then black dhides, is true?

For the shield, an unholy (zamorak) book is actually the best for the shield slot. that gives about +12 attack. next best i think would be rune defender. Other than that it looks like you have the best set-up possible in you price range.

 

 

 

Oh also, i wouldnt recommend void unless you plan to pk in it. me and a friend did a lot of testing and found it to be alsmot exactly the same exp per hour as normal d hide.

Thanks is very usefull answer i checked - Unholy book is better for ranged attack bonus, I compared it:

 

 

 

Unholy book (+8 for ranged attack bonus - is great) and Rune Defender (-2 for ranged attack bonus)

 

 

 

Then i suppose i must collect full unholy book, because I have just fully collected Guthix & Saradonim books (completed last week) & just started to collect Zamorak (Unholy) book (have if i good remember just page1), BTW have extra Gutix page1, Sara page1.. :)

As for your actual question, I think when you complete the zammy book, you have the optimal set in your price range. The bone bow is cheapest, and has decent power, I heard.

I done tests on Ogres when i had 70 range, tested with:

 

 

 

Mage Short Bow (MSB) + Addy arrows

 

and

 

Dogestung C'bow

 

 

 

Test result is then i hit more damage with bone c'bow (then i suppose is to compare like MSB+Rune Arrows) and hit rate is better.

 

 

 

About Karils i readed one topic on RSOF where guy compared stats with dragonhides, Karil have same ranged attack bonuses like black dragonhide and Karil have just highter defence bonuses, but in this situation defence is not so important - it can be important just fighting some hight lvl monsters for profit..

Unholy book gives a +8 to all attacks, Guthix's Book of Balence gives a +4 to all attack and defence stats.

I believe you do need to complete the books to get the bonuses. If you are safespotting definitely use a Unholy Zamorak book. If you aren't safespotting, a Guthix book might be a better option.

 

 

 

The Zamorak gives +8 to all offensive bonuses and no defensive.

 

 

 

The Guthis gives +4 to all offensive bonuses and +4 to all defensive.
