I just finished the Shilo Village a week ago, and no Charcoal needed. Charcoal is needed for writing on papyrus. If you are F2P, it's completely useless. If you are P2P, you need it in several quests. "We had gay burglars the other night. They broke in and rearranged the furniture."

November 23, 200718 yr No, don't believe the scammers selling it for like 500k or whatever. You can get charcoal by cutting trees in high level wilderness. No joke. I tried it.

But I think Jagex removed that when they updated the wilderness' graphics and made most trees un-cuttable. here!
