I remember you had to draw on papaya for a page or something like that. I just finished the Shilo Village a week ago, and no Charcoal needed. Charcoal is needed for writing on papyrus. If you are F2P, it's completely useless. If you are P2P, you need it in several quests. "We had gay burglars the other night. They broke in and rearranged the furniture." I tried it when I first started playing (3 years ago, this Feb.) But I think Jagex removed that when they updated the wilderness' graphics and made most trees un-cuttable. here!
