Getting a 360-Halp

Bloodredsword

Recommended Posts

First off, I wasn't sure if this should go in a special topic or anything...but...:P

Basically my family has offered to all go in to get a 360 for me for Christmas. The Budget is around $300usd.

What should I get(no games, I will buy those myself). I've heard all the horror stories about the RRoD, and that freaked me out. Do the most recent 360's have those chips to prevent that and other major probs? What Accessories should I get?

Remember, budget is $300 dollars.

For your interest; Games I plan to get:

CoD4

Halo 3(duh?)

Assasin's Creed

Mass Effect(mabye)

Oblivion(mabye)

Thanks for any help :D

CoD4 modern warfare is freaking amazing. The game itself is kinda short, but the multiplayer is awesome, maybe better than Halo

Halo 3 - awesome game, as expected.

Assasins creed - haven't played

Mass Effect - no clue

Oblivion - had it for computer, got bored of it quickly

What I really need to know is if my xbox will get an RRoD if I don't have the right kind of area to put it in. Where should I buy my 360?(or have it bought from)

Do the newer versions have those chips?

I would suggest buying your 360 from the net, it saves the hassle of going to the city and going through the Christmas Shoppers rush  Mass Effect is a very good RPG and I would reccomend it if your like RPG's, it looks like you got Halo 3 down on your list :P If you have a brother/Sister, see if you can find another wireless controller and get a play and charge kit. Hope this helps. :)

How to find a Falcon model 360 in stores

Based on the info in this thread, A Falcon model Xbox 360 MUST BE:

1. Lot #0734 (Halo 3) or later (all SKUs)

2. Manufactured on or after 8/24/07(An HDMI Premium manufactured on 8/19 has been reported as 65nm.)

3. Team FDOU (Other teams may be Falcon as well, but none have been reported)

Were you planning on getting the core package? I suggest you just pay the $50 extra and upgrade to the premium package. It comes with a hard drive and 2 games.

Oh and I wouldn't recommend buying AC. It's ok but I would just rent or borrow it from a friend. Too repetitive and a crappy ending.

Halo 3 - I would only really BUY Halo 3 if you have Xbox Live Gold, plan to get it very soon, and plan to have it for quite a while. It's fun..but without XBL, It's kinda not worth buying.

Oblivion - A must buy. Go to Gamefaqs and read some of these reviews. If you have a serious interest in the game, I'd suggest buying the Game of the Year Edition..however, if you're short on $$$, then you can buy those xbox points or whatever later on and buy the expansions through the Marketplace on Xbox Live when you're ready.

Dont get an intercooler. Most if not all of the intercooler reviews are negative, intercoolers rob power from your 360 and could cause melting and/or hardware failure. If you get a red ring from the intercooler, Microsoft will void the warranty for use of "unlicensed peripheral."
