internet problems

Featured Replies

im on my new pc and randomly the internet will stop working. i am connected upto Xbox live most of the time and if the internet stops working, xbox live carries on like normal. its as if the connection is still active but no websites will work at all untill i reset the computer. i tried connecting to MSN when it goes down and it dosent work, i went through the troubleshooting and apparently it has somthing to do with the gateway?

Which ISP are you with? I'm with Virgin Media and this happens to make sometimes and I reset my modem and router, then restart my computer. Usually sorts the problem out.

Sorry I couldn't understand what you were trying to say so I'm going to ask a few questions.

Are you using wireless/do you have a router?

Did you configure the TCP/IP settings?

Are you by any chance using windows vista?

best thing would be to make sure your computer is completely up to date, your motherboard drivers, windows updates etc etc

Check you system log for any errors that may be occuring.

Check your router log for any errors

have a look online to see if your local exchange is congested.

Cant really give any advice on the connection itself as you havent mentioned what you have?

as everyone always mentions run a full spyware scan with something like spybot, uninstall useless plugins off of your browser.

Internet explorer on vista can seem to hang when you first put a site in, because of all the safety checks etc, turning some of these off ie: phishing filter will help your general connection.

what browser do you use?

will try and help more if you give some more info.
