How to fix RWT without "fixing" RS

Featured Replies

Judging by Jagex's plans to abolish free trade in the early weeks of January, I'm convinced that Jagex either didn't think their "brilliant" idea all the way through, or is run by idiots.

My solution to RWT is this:

People buy gold because they want to be a wealthy, respected player, minus the effort, right? What better way to stop this from happening than by making the most sought after items nontradable?

Make rune (plain, non trimmed) the highest level tradable armor.. A set is 200k, and it is respectable armor stat-wise, so there is no worries.

Anything above rune (dragon, barrows, and so on) would become NONTRADABLE. High level armor would become a sign of an experienced veteran. The only way to stand out from the crowd wouldn't be to buy higher value armor, it would be to fight monsters and complete challenges, until luck happens to give you a prized item that is more powerful than rune.

Buying gold from RWTers to purchase high level armor? Yes.

Buying gold from RWTers to purchase full rune (200k), then purchase the supplies to kill enough monsters for good loot? Not as likely, since lazy people who deal with RWTers don't want to do that.

Examples of things that would be nontradable:

-Dragon armor

-Barrows armor

-3rd age, Trimmed armor, any valuable equipment from treasure trails

-Black and white mystic

Want full dragon? Better get KQing. Barrows armor? Have fun at the barrows. Full sara and a robin hat? Good luck with those clue scrolls. Colored mystic? Better get slaying.

In addition, these nontradable items would be similar to the barrelchest anchor and helm of neitiznot; They would turn into coins if you were PKed while holding one.

To conclude, I think this idea is a hell of a lot better than removing free (or as they call it, "unfair") trading from the game,

The wildernis hasn't got anything to do with real world trading. Even with these new methods, people will just buy/sell accounts. I will quit my membership if the wildy does not return.

DUMBEST idea I have heard in a looooooong time. I would say more but it would all ammount to: you are an idiot.

An update that's supposedly protecting free trade by taking the most sought after items and making them untradeable.

Yea, that really shoots your plan in the foot. Because I'd really rather take the horrendously imprecise and unpredictable drop system, and use it to determine whether or not I make it in the game.

So Player A can get his dragon platelegs in one day, while I'll sit at the dragons for 20 hours to get one, and if I lose it through death-through-lag? Well, better put aside another 20 hours, because it's converted to cash which I can't use to rebuy it.

Do you really think that after more than a year of planning, making these items untradeable hasn't crossed Jagex's mind? Note the "We've exhausted every other possibility". Your idea really isn't that creative, and chances are it was brought up and thrown into the trash a long time ago at the Jagex Towers.

To conclude, this idea fails, which is why it wasn't the path Jagex took.

Dumb idea...I mean....How is people supposed to get barrows armor? they gotta do the whole mini game for a piece? I'm a barrower and believe me it's not that easy to complete a full set, also if it is nontradeable...man if you loose it you gotta do it again

It gets worse, what about dragon armor??? you want full dragon and you gotta go hunt mithril dragons, dust devils/kalphite queen, gwd monsters, steel dragons....only for a set? it would take...believe me...like 6 months of straight play with 7 hours a day killing these for the set...

Agreed. Nitram99 was able to think of better stuff than this thread tries to propose!
