Nuclear_man2
This is a list of Jagex Actions that have affected Runescape, and how Jagex seems to have done things a bit half-hazardly. I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m sure Jagex knew that it was gonna tick off a lot of people in its process of getting rid of gold farmers, however it doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t help you one bit if you tick off a the majority of it of the majority of the 4 main groups of Runescape (that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a lot of people). Here are the list of their actions, and how they affected Runescape slowly killing it, however I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not typing this to complain on the contrary I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m typing this to show how their attack on gold farmers while extremely effective (something I have to give them kudos for) however has crippled Runescape̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s economy, by having major and devastating effects on pretty much everyone, anyone who wanted to make money, their methods are pretty much useless after Jagex̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s latest blow. -Merchants can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t merchant really, other then to make profits of about 3k or so, unless they find a way to work around the system, but even that won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be very effective. -Skillers can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t sell for as high as they could. -Stakers can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t make any real money staking. -Pkers can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t make any real money either. These are what I consider the 4 main groups of people who play Runescape will fall into one or more of these categories. Mind you these are all about cash aspects, not all people think about the money. However Jagex has made radical changes to pretty much every conceivable aspect of the trading process. However, as I said before I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not here to patronize Jagex, I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m only doing this to show that, Jagex took the way I probably would have took to defeat an enemy, to destroy its ability to exist. They solved the problem with what I can only describe as brutal logic. If someone is going to hit you, break their arm, and then they won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be able to use the arm to hit you with, that is brutal logic. However I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m sure you and I know that it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not exactly necessary for you to break someone̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s arm to stop them from hitting you. I think Jagex has made its point, it is fully capable and willing to do whatever it feels necessary to stop gold farming. However, it didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t have to go as far as it did. So here begins the actual document̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ the alternative solutions. The following are methods are ways in which gold farmers can trade their money. All problems are pre-update problems. The solutions have words behind them describing how harsh the solutions are. I would prefer people not judge the solutions as being too extravagant, as obviously Jagex has already show us they are willing to do whatever they feel they need to solve the problem, but rather judge them as weather they would 1.) Stop/Slow down Gold Farmers, and 2.) Be effective at keeping merchants, Stakers, Pkers and/or Skillers happy. Mind you just making one of the 4 happy would be an improvement, as each update affects each one differently. Jagex goal seems to have been to wipe out Gold farming without any real concern for the players. Sure we don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t like the farmers anymore then you guys, however we don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t want the game we enjoy playing (or just play) destroyed in the process. So thus I have come up with alternative solutions to each of the problems Jagex proposed [hide=Unbalanced Trades] Problem: Gold Farmers are able to trade millions of GP, to the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åbuyer̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà I'm working on starting a web design buisness and a bookGoals-90M/100M-Top 2.0k In Smith-26m as F2P(+lvl 79 Smith)United Smelters̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ Association-FounderNuclear Co. anim7
I actually like the updates and I am a merchant. I can still make money. You just have to know how. Mild solutions that allow some RWT to go on is kinda stupid IMO. If they want to get rid of gold farmers, they must completely get rid of them. On dec 10, the autoers and gold farmers were nuked (spartan lasered, headshot, K.O.ed). I can log on to any world and see honest players at yew trees. 100% F2P85 Mining achieved on Dec 4, 200785 Smithing achieved on May 28, 2009
mchainmail
You claim that these are the four main categories, but in what order? If 60% of people are "skillers" then they haven't ticked off a majority of players, only a majority of player groups. Second, of the 4 groups, 3 of them are not in the spirit of the game. Merchanting, staking, and (to a lesser extent) pking are all examples of emergent gameplay, where players are doing things Jagex has not envisioned. It was never Jagex's idea to have a system where players can make or lose millions or billions in a matter of minutes. Merchanting, in Jagex's eyes is just ripping off other players. The point about skillers not being able to sell for as high as they could is also unfounded. While the actual numbers may have faltered, the inherent cost, the cost to replenish the materials they have used has also fallen. So the typical yew long stringer is making just as much as he would be before the update.
DanCool999
Solution to Pking: 1. Move Clan Wars Room to level 1 wild somewhere to east wild. 2. Move Bounty Hunter far west and around level 1 wild. 3. Disallow all Gold in wild over 1k 4. All Pking will return as normal with new rules 5. You can only bring combat items YOU CAN WIELD to the wild 6. Pots and Food will be allowed 7. Runes/Arrows - This is the biggest problem so we either A) can not allow them to be dropped or B) allow only a certain amount to be dropped or C) they are split up evenly in lootshare (if used) or D) You can bring more runes/arrows based on range/mage level. This is probly the best choice. 8. All noted items are not allowed in wild as there is no need for them. 9. Therefore the only high levels can bring high level items to wild and have a risk of losing them as having to train their account to high Defence/attack levels. 10. Another Idea is that you only recieve armour/runes/arrows based on your combat/mage/range/ levels. Quest Cape Since 8/9/
