Alright here is the problem i need to get my mage to 55 without loosing money. Or only loosing a bit of money currently have 41 mage and about 1m

And pretty much no matter what lvl you are, they is nothing other than hi-alch that you won't lose money.

 

It think curses are the best.

Magic and moneymaking don't go in the same sentence unless alchemy is involved. So, I would suggest having a go at crafting your own runes to make it cheaper. Of course, be sensible and get a battle/mystic staff alongside with perhaps mystic robes (get the blue type unless you're feeling adventurous).

skellys in varrock sewers, hobgoblins by crafting guild are some good places.

Just wear full iron with a staff and go to the zammy monk in Varrock castle. Should splash there.

 

Also are you a member? If you are it might be worth buying chaos runes and killing something like fire giants. You can safespot them easily, and you'll make the money back from the drops (lots of rune). Should be alright there at your level, just try it and see if you hit often enough.
