When I try to log in on the snazzy log in screen for the forums (and polls etc) it just freezes =/

Stop spreading BS. Deleting the cache files DOES NOT prevent you from playing. Deleting them just forces a complete reload of all the RS game files instead of the typical updates. The cache refered to in that thread also has nothing to do with the services login applet used for the forums and other website areas.

My cache files got accidently deleted a few weeks ago, and the JAVA login for the RSOF and other website services did not work. Thanks for the flame-bait though :shame:

I suggest you get a clue and figure out what's wrong with your computer then. The cache folders have nothing to do with the login applet. I just wiped both cache folders and the browser cache just to check. Guess what? It loaded fine.

Yeah, Cruiser is right. I suggest you look up the meaning of what caching is and what its function is.

It freezes because since you installed the latest version, Java is updating your cache. It will freeze your computer for a bit, then a window will pop up saying something like "Java is updating your cache for JRE 6.something" and a progress bar will pop up. Just let it do it's thing and you'll be fine.
