insane
Running windows xp, just the automatic updates part - it told me that I have an update I need to get, specifically: Security Update for Windows XP (KB890859), and so I dl'd and installed it. Two seconds later it pops up again "You have one available update to install", so i resinstall it, and so on, and so on. What's wrong? Has it installed and just not realized it? blade995
did you restart your computer after the update? If you didn't it still might not reconize it. If you already did restart, then i'm stumped

Mercifull
Find it in the add/remove programs, uninstall the security hotfix and try reinstalling again. insane
Find it in the add/remove programs, uninstall the security hotfix and try reinstalling again. Well I'm not a computer genius, but I couldn't find it, seeing as it's an update and not a program, nor a windows component. Maybe a simple system restore and reinstall would do the trick? insane
Yeah, I realized that earlier, but it still didn't work. *But* I went to the support information... and it said - The Add or Remove Programs tool in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) lists software updates under the name of the product that a particular update applies to. In Windows XP SP2, the Add or Remove Programs tool lists the update that is described in this article under Windows XP ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Software Updates. manopie14
I don't mean to be prejudiced against microsoft *cough*microsoft sucks*cough*, but it's not the smartest company in the world. Isn't there a control panel option that allows you to turn off auto updating? check it out Microsoft  so dumb, so dumb. just don't install the update. i've found that it doesn't ask you very often if you just ignore it.

If you browsed the web with the first version of windows xp that came out with no updates then your pc would be instantly bombarded with attacks and riddled with spyware.
