maging blues or irons?

My current goal is 96 mage (420k xp to go)

Up untill now, I never really specifically trained magic. I got 95 by teleporting (I hate walking), alching the stuff I made, bit of mage training arena, slaying, ... basically just by playing the game.

I would like to switch to lunarmage, because it has some nice spells. But I dont want to switch before getting 96 for the spellbookswap, since I would miss the trollheimteleport (I like the herbpatch there and I do a lot of farmtours).

I was thinking about magic darting (made lots of deaths) iron drags or blues.

I think maging blues would certainly pay for the runes if I bank all the hides and bones.

If I go for the irons, I will not bank the bones and I would have to hope for a good drop. The advantage of these is that I can stay there for a while, since I dont have to bank often. Considering I have already slayed 100s of them and only had a d skirt as a drop once, Im not sure what to do.

So what would you recommend?

Hmm, i haven't ever maged blues, ever - but that's because i beleive the coloured drags have pretty high mage def. Xpwise you should probably do metals.

If you're planning on doing a lot drops SHOULD cover rune usage, but metals are a lot more hit and miss, wheras blues are a lot more secure cash. I'd go for metals.

Go for the irons. You can relax alot more, and there's a good chance that you'll make profit.

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)

Ok, I've maged some blues so far, but the xp is rather slow.

I knew the bestiary says blues have high mage def, but I seem to hit them often and high anyway.

Anyway, I'm off to the irons, xpwise they should be better. Lets hope they also are dropwise.

Ty for your advice and cya later.
