Which web hoster is for me?

Alright, I don't really know much about web hosting but I think once I get a domain and hoster I'll find my way though it. :D

 

 

 

I was thinking of buying one of these two templates.

Now I won't really upload much, maybe 50 pictures at the most, and I won't have much writing probley a few paragraphs and maybe 100 people (max) viewing the site. Now what would this inturn mean for me when I'm looking for a web hoster.

 

 

 

I want somthing pretty cheap, maybe a hoster that gives one free domin, and no forced adds, thats a big one.

Captainkidd, here's one that might help, that I know someone uses and likes :) ...:

 

 

 

 

 

'123ehost.com' does not give a free domain, but at $50/year for their basic plan, and $11/year for a domain name, and the sizes provided and such, you would have the room to make the site grow a lot. :D

Buying the domain name through the same company as your web hosting is usually a bad idea. Many hosts keep the domain name in their company name and you don't get to keep it if you switch hosting companies. Always register your domain name separately using a registrar like Godaddy or NameCheap.

 

 

 

As for the host, look around Webhostingtalk.com. You'll find lots of good advice on which hosts are good and which ones to avoid.

One of the most well known trusted providers on the market is 1and1. They have alot of different plans, with some including a free domain. I can also rec ommend them as my site is hosted with them and their uptime and reliability are excellent!

A quick search on WebHostingTalk says otherwise. That's exactly why people should do their own research instead of blindly excepting what people advertise here.

It also depends on what you're looking to host. Hosting a dedicated server with some place like godaddy is hell, but then, you wouldn't want to set up you're simple little site with a company like rackspace.

Which is exactly why people should do their own research instead of taking what's thrown up here. The 'top 10' article you posted is from October 2006, so it isn't exactly accurate when applied to the current hosting world. The WHT thread I referred to was posted yesterday as of this reply, by a real user, not some magazine out to make money and it is in no way a single incident when you search around WHT.
