May 8, 200521 yr I am applying for a distinct program in my High School and it requires a two page essay. It is due tomorrow and I need ideas for the topic. "The effect of technology on our lives in the next ten years" I really need help with ideas on what I could write this on, please help.
May 8, 200521 yr If I were you, I'd talk about the positive and negaitve aspects of biotechnology. In the next ten years, who knows what types of diseases humans will be able to vaccinate. And with the rise of bioterrorism, powerful biotechnology in the wrong hands can lead to disastrous outcomes. Writing two pages on that should be fairly easy. If I were you, I'd stay away from talking about computers for this essay. Most likely, the majority of the people applying for this program will be writing about computers or something of the sort. You'll want to write about something out of the ordinary. Good luck! :D
May 9, 200521 yr Nanotechnology is basicly making very small machenes. These can go from microscopic gears to tiny robots. MIT is currently using it to create the next generation of armor ( Better than kevlar) http://web.mit.edu/isn/ If you want the encylopedia defanition you can find it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanotechnology
May 9, 200521 yr Could also touch up on enviromental technology. What do you think automobile manufacturers and big factorys will all do to cut down on pollution. We've already seen catalystic converters and that kinda stuff in cars. Another huge area of tech is medicine. The amount of things involving that is virtually infinite, what with life expectancy increasing, AIDS, diabetes, all that. Gamertag: King Arizona
May 9, 200521 yr lets not forget genetics aswell and how technology will advance that Yeah, kinda like that movie Gattica if you've ever seen it. I don't know if theres any research or experimentation on it right now, but the prospect of selecting certain genetic traits about your baby may be possible. Male, female, immunities, treating defects, etc. Gamertag: King Arizona
May 9, 200521 yr although ive never had to write an essay of this kind, if its for a highschool, id probably concentrate on the effect of Technology on Education in the future. Its a topic that requires far less research to seem plausible, and you could stick to what you know, rather than the horror of biotechnology.
May 10, 200521 yr I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but the fact that you're working on an essay for a scholarship the day before it is due limits your chances on getting that scholarship. I've worked on several scholarships and I've spent at least a week or more preparing each one with an essay similar to yours, 2 reference letters, an autobiographical essay. Anyway I wish you the best of luck with it can't really help you though I know it can be tough. It's kind of been nerve racking for me waiting to hear about getting scholarships but I have won one of mine so far for $1000 (a drop in the pocket when it comes to tuitions).
