Hey all, I recently got members again and was quite keen to try out summoning, however I then found out that it gave combat levels! After a bit more research it looks like those combat levels dont actually affect you in PKing situations unless you are actually using summoning, but still... Is it frowned upon for pures/pkers to get Summoning levels, or is that outweighed by peoples desire for slightly faster combat exp? Also, are there any quests that are definitely worth doing for a 'zerker new to P2P?

Advice for a 40 DEF F2Per becoming a 45 DEF 'zerk P2Per
PinMonkey replied to PinMonkey's topic in Help and Advice
Would I be better off starting again? I guess in reality I am less than 1/4th the way to 99 STR, so it wouldn't be that outrageous. EDIT: Stuff it, I will just do the Monkey Trials quest for a Scim. Thanks so much for your help Bongo_Man -
Advice for a 40 DEF F2Per becoming a 45 DEF 'zerk P2Per
PinMonkey replied to PinMonkey's topic in Help and Advice
Thank you Sir; That is exactly what I needed to know. Just finally, you think the Dragon Scimitar is a better reward than Full Plate and Dragon Hide? I know about the Fight Torso, but what about a replacement for Black D-Hide Chest? Also, I didn't think whips had a STR training mode - so if these are used (even just in PVP) does this mean eventually the Berserker will end up with additional attack levels? -
Hello all, A long time ago I made a rune pure for F2P with the intent of getting 40 Def/Attack and as much STR as humanly possible, however as soon as I hit 40 DEF I remembered that the Dragon Quest gives enough DEF XP to get to 41! This annoyed me slightly, but I kept training anyway and now have 80 STR, as well as a lot of different skills at semi-respectable levels. Just today I decided to sign up for membership again, and while looking at guides for Melee training came across the idea of a Berserker. This seemed like an excellent idea as it would allow me to get the DEF EXP that Dragon Slayer provides without having an ugly build. However I have a few questions: Which quests give DEF EXP that are totally necessary for Berzerkers? Can these be done and still give less than 5 levels of DEF EXP? How important is Prayer in these builds? To what level? (also if anyone wants to link me to a nice P2P melee training guide for lower def chars, I would be grateful :D) Thanks TL;DR? Can I become a decent zerker in less than 5 levels of DEF?

haha, its naivity to claim that people grow out of dressing to fit in. business suits, golfing cardigans, sports jackets and so on are perfect examples of how even the old people do it. but i dont see it as being a problem. saying its silly when someone wears tight jeans and a black tshirt to a hardcore show is like saying its foolish to wear a snow jacket while skiing. you dress depending on what youre doing.and to further that example, if someone went skiing in a hawiian shirt and swimming trunks, youd think that something was wrong, and isnt that the same as wearing your suit and tie to a mosh pit? (although you do look damn spiffy) although i agree that you should listen to whatever you like and not be bought down by other peoples perception of your music. and if you like britney spears, and own her t-shirt, noone should slag you for wearing it.

bah! til they offer General Anasthetic for minor dentistry operations im not going back there! a few months ago, i was informed it was 6 months since i last wen to the dentist, so off i went! however, an xray and a few pokes later the guy decided i had 2 cavities! which was strange because although i dont really brush that often, i have only had one filling, and at my last dentist appointment the guy told me i had loverly teeth.... so i came back a few days later, and so he gets drilling - which i hate, although i can stand the pain, the needles/vibrating/heat/noise/strange feeling drives me crazy. but anyway, he plugs up those two holes and decides to do some "exploratory drilling" NO! ITS A LIE! "exploratory drilling" is another word for "creating more work" because suddenly i had two more fillings! in the two teeth that he had just "expored"! luckily he decided he had done enough damage for today, so he left the last two fillings, and i was able to escape. then by "forgetting about" the next few appointments and ignoring the phone calls, i just let my teeth rot. the only way im getting my teeth fixed again is if they all rot out, and i can just slap in some dentures, or they start offering general anasthetic!

it would have been a good idea if it had gone in at the same time as the first holiday drop, or atleast before the prices reached millions. now if you stuck it in youd have people that had spent billions on their rare items committing suicide as the price falls down to below the 600k mark. perhaps it could be bought in, but only if the price of the rares matched the price that people are paying today.

or even better just change it so that you get tickets based on kills and flag captures... it would hurt the youngins a bit, but it also gives them an incentive to train properly rather than playing around in castle wars.

although ive never had to write an essay of this kind, if its for a highschool, id probably concentrate on the effect of Technology on Education in the future. Its a topic that requires far less research to seem plausible, and you could stick to what you know, rather than the horror of biotechnology.

i think its [developmentally delayed]ed saying that we should "ban the old people from driving" as old is so relative. my granddad is heading on 80 now, and he is one of the best drivers i know, and regularly goes on 4WD trips while my mother is in her 40s and drives like an epileptic monkey. but im all for driving tests every (5?) years for all drivers, as long as it is fully paid for by the government. paying for a compulsary test every 5 years is as silly as the huge price they charge for the license tests in the first place.

Idea for a new monster in both f2p and p2p.
PinMonkey replied to ep1demic's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
haha, it ammuses me when you are talking about members being greedy. F2Pers dont pay for the game, so apart from the revenue from advertisements (haha, anyone who runes a website knows how much that is!), they dont contribute jack towards the cost of the game and yet some players think that they some how deserve something extra! now that is greed. its comparable to a homeless person complaining when the homeless shelter doesnt have a soup that he/she likes, or a vegetarian alternative at meal times. members may want more updates - perhaps more than what is expected from other games (Ragnarok has a major update less than once a month, and went for about 4-6 months without a single update - and we pay $12 a month for that!) but atleast members have reasonable grounds to ask for them. if you want rune drops and high level monsters, help out JAGeX and pay for your account. not only do you get what you want but you can feel superiour because youre doing your bit to support the game. if thats too much or you dont have a credit card, you can quit - then you can feel better, knowing that youre not wasting their bandwidth. heck i wouldnt even mind if F2P got updated and they did get a monster that dropped all the rune you could get, but it should be done out of the kindness from Jagex, not from the grumblings of F2Pers. and this isnt to say that F2P servers are a bad idea. i think its an awesome way for new players to test the game and for people that cant pay or dont have enough time to make paying worthwhile. but these people should never complain about what they are getting, and people that have the means to pay for the game should definitely do it ... Im sorry if this made you break down and cry or something, but it always amazes me when F2Pers complain about the state of a game that they dont pay to play. it seems that this has become another war between F2P and P2P players, which happens fairly regularly. but this is the first time ive heard P2Pers being called greedy, and thats why i responded. -
SWG massive update; could it happen in RS?
PinMonkey replied to lpinkus's topic in General Discussion
i dont think it could work for runescape. although i havent played SWG, in games like Dark Ages of Camelot if you fight monsters that are too high for your level, then you gain extra experience (compaired to if you were fighting them when you were the right level) so with hallys or range, people attacking super high monsters at really low levels would just race up. and if they didnt put in this incentive, people would only attack the monsters similar levels to themselves, thusly limiting the ammount of monsters that people train on. plus, games like that usually have less levels (DAoC only has 50) so there are enough different kinds of monsters to fight at any level while in runescape there are 126 levels, and what? 300 monsters? that means that for each level there would be only 3 or 4 monsters to choose from. plenty of which arent really great for training on anyway. what this means is that the game would get insanely repeditive and eventually unfairly hard to train. plus, doing that would mean changing the XP given from damage done to a set amount at the killing stroke of the monster (I think? thats the way its done in most games anyway, but perhaps not) which would require huge changes to the game, and mean that people could hire other people to half kill monsters for them, and then they would sweep in and finish them off. -
Supposidly High Level Items Are Too Easily Accessible
PinMonkey replied to Nugget89's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
how could you put a minimum price for rune items? the only way to do it would be to raise the shop price for those items. that way instead of bothering to find a buyer, smithees could just high alc the goods they make, thusly if you wanted the item from the smithee you would have to pay more than the alc price... but of course this wuld just increase inflation, as it would mean a whole lot more money would be coming into the game (youre saying hundreds of thousands per item) with the sale to NPCs with still no real way that the currency is going out. the only way i see to fix THAT problem would then be to increase the price of smithing the rune items - chances to succeed? disposable smithing equipment such as one use rune hammers? but then what happens? the profit made by smithees is reduced again, and who loses? the consumer who is now paying 100k + for his rune items. anyway, the fixes to inflation on smithees are probably too late as there are probably people with huge stockpiles of rune armour and weapons who would just cash in and high alc everything they werent using. not to mention that doesnt place any check on people that find rune items. unless there is some other way to magically force people to sell at different prices? ask them nicely?
