PS: No offense, but anime is a pretty poor way to learn to draw. It often avoids many important concepts such as composition, lighting, texturing and other various details. If you want to really learn to draw, you should learn to draw from life. Only then should you move on to more basic cartoons.

 

From personal experience guys, you do have to learn to draw from life first, for not only anime but all styles. Drawing various anime styles isn't about taking shortcuts and avoiding learning how to draw life; on the contrary, you first have to learn to draw life first before you try to warp it :P .

 

 

 

[Of course, though I like manga style, the only thing I really apply it to is the drawing of the face, so it could be a different case for complete, Western-style cartoonists :-k .]

Those with natural talent can draw things really good but still needs to work on it. Those without natural talent like me, have to put lots of days to get better.

Anyone can learn art only if they want to. The difference comes in that artists tend to want to draw more because their brain is probably more of the creative type than analytical type. Some people might be really good artists as soon as they start, it may just be that they have exceptional photographic memory and a strong sense of observation/replication. However, it's like music, it just takes a lot of practice to become good in a specific type of art. Still, you can never reach a point of perfection, you can always improve somehow.

 

 

 

Artistic skill does not depend on genes. None of the parents, siblings, or even grandparents need any art experience for someone to like making art.
