darkblade986
Prologue Issue: I own a Nintendo DS with two games that are Wi-Fi Compatible. The problem is that the router I use has WPA encryption on it. A Nintendo DS will only connect to your router if it uses WEP connection; Otherwise, you need to find another way to connect to the internet. The solution to this would be a specific adapter made by Nintendo. This adapter (called, rather obviously, a Wi-Fi USB Connector) connects to my USB drive on my computer and allows the DS to use that computer's internet, avoiding the encryption issues because it communicates with the device, rather than the router. The Main Issue: This connector has one problem (that would presently affect me). The connector is incompatible with the Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite. The only way to connect with the device is if this program is *completely* uninstalled from the system. Turning off the Firewall does nothing. I am currently using the free version of ZoneAlarm (the one that you downgrade to after your 15-day trial expires). I have two questions regarding this. 1) Is this free version still considered the "Internet Security Suite" or is it a different program, and would that give a possibility that it would work? 2) Zone Alarm is the only program to be confirmed to have an issue with the connector. Can anyone suggest a Firewall (ideally a free one) that is comparable or better than Zone Alarm? don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
JoeDaStudd
1)Zonealarm Basic (the free one) is solely a firewall. If you need extra protection get avg or avast, Spyboy S&D and Ad-aware Free (all completely free of course) 2)Without you go on a lot of dodgy sites and download a lot of questionable files then you should be find with Windows Firewall, its not the best but its free and will do a decent job. darkblade986
I already have AVG, Spybot and Adaware, and I'd rather not use Windows Firewall (my mother and her friend, who knows a lot about computers, each say it's a piece of crap). Any other suggestions? don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
War_Junky_91
I have one thats not free, but it is well worth your money. I about wanna bake the company that makes it a cake or something. It's call System Mechanic 7 Profesional Click Here for Site. It costs $50 to buy and $40 a year for it. But it is the best firewall and virus scanner i have seen (and i have seen and used over 2 dozen). Simple as ever to operate also. I very highly recomend it.
ooberman
The only other free firewalls that I know that friends have used are Outpost by Agnitum and Comodo free firewall. I haven't used them myself but apparently they are both ok firewalls, I would go for zone-alarm everytime, but obviously not an option for you. oober
Phantom
Zone Alarm is a nice basic firewall program. Now I use Sygate though. Not sure if you have to pay for it though. Click here to help me level! Thanks for the help!
ClareJonsson
One of the better firewals I have used is Comodo. Much better than zone alarm. [Assist-X]
