SO I just recently built a new computer and I have 2 screens from my last computer that I want to use. On my old computer, All I had to do was right click the desktop and enable both of the screens, but when I plug in the PCI card to this computer and try to use that plus the onboard graphics, the onboard gets disabled and wont work. Any ideas how to turn it back on? My mobo is PCCHIPS A13g+ and the extra video card is a cheapy geforce 5200X that I just want to use for internet and stuff.

So you got a graphics card and on-board graphics and you want to run them both?

 

 

 

Most motherboards wont let you, and you'll need a graphics card that support duel monitors, I have been running duel screens for two years once you get up and running you'll never go back to one :thumbsup:

 

 

 

But to turn the on-board graphics back on will be somewhere in the bios.

Yeah you have to have a card that allows for dual monitors, I.E:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your PC can't have the onboard card and then another card render graphics at the same time, It's too complicated.

And yeah dual monitors are great, I used them for a while. (22" widescreen and 19" flatscreen). However I had to give them up when I went to college (not enough room).

If all he's doing is RS and internet stuff, throwing one of these in the PCI x16 slot is cheaper. If you're still running a mobo with AGP, you can get by a bit cheaper still with a bit of digging.

You can run two monitors on two cards at the same time.. I did it on my old computer. I used the same Geforce 5200x and the onboard on Dell Dimension B110. My question now is how do I do the same thing on my newer computer? Is there a way to re-enable onboard after it shuts it down?

There should be an option somewhere in the bios to enable/disable the onboard video and chooce which source to use. It may not allow you to use both at the same time though.

Ah ok. I heard him say "PCI" so I figured he just had a normal PCI slot.

I do have PCI-x and an AGP slot, but I also have the standard 3 PCI slots. I didnt have money to buy a video card yet, so I am using the onboard card, but I wanted to rip the 5200 out of my old computer and go dual with this computer as well.

You have a PCI-X slot? Is the motherboard a server motherboard? It really depends on the motherboard weather or not integrated graphics will work at the same time as a card or not.

 

 

 

As far as cheap AGP cards with dual monitor out ports, This card would do well.

I run dual monitors too but both from a PCI-E GFX Card - as far as I know there's no way to run from both onboard and "off-board" graphics, you need either two dedicated graphics cards with an output each, or a single graphics card with two outputs.
