wallyweams
ok i havent read most of the previous posts cuz i cant be bothered but i want to point out one major thing. The difference between the scims and the longs primary attack. Scim is +45 Long is +47 the defense of armor is directly proportional to the attack of a weapon, so the difference between a scim and a long is like the different between your opponent wearing and not wearing boots... it doesnt make a difference. It would make a huge difference if you are fighting a chain mail wearing enemy like the Varrock and Fally guards. Clearly, you would want to fight in the style that uses your weapons strongest ability. But, what if your opponent had a very bad weakness in his armor? Shouldn't you exploit that and attack him with a weapon that was strong in that attack style?
wallyweams
I know my system isn't 100% reliable, but the fact that a scimitar is 20% faster and a longsword has 10% more accuracy and power, even to somebody with 0 strenght and 0 attack, even if my system would be very unreliable (maybe it is) the longsword still doesn't match up to the scimitar, in any conditions What about when fighting a chain mail wearing enemy? And the stab attack of a scimitar is very low, and the stab attack of a longsword is higher, but who would use stab attack? Any player who trains in the "controlled" style with a scimitar is forced to use the stab method of attack. And, any player who wants to exploit the weakness in chain mail armor. You have always claimed that the scimitar was the best weapon to use without any qualifications or restrictions at all. Do you still claim this to be true? It has lowered accuracy anyway, you don't get more accuracy when using a stab attack in any condition Sigh, look at the stab and slash defense stats for chain armor. ...But if the longsword is your favored weapon, it is I guess that you forgot that I said The best weapon to use ... Sometimes that may be the scimmy, and sometimes not... I use whatever weapon is best for the job at hand.
wallyweams
...What i gather from the data gathered is that neither weapon has a easily detirmined advantage over the other. Yes, that's what Jagex said they wanted (24-Nov-2003) for the RS2 combat system. ...The primary difference between the two is that the longsword is a more flexible weapon, making it more likely that you have something your opponent is weaker to. With the scimitar, all you can do is slash, slash, slash, and hope for some good hits. Yes, you can clearly see the tradeoffs that Jagex made for the 2 weapons. Long: flexible, but slower. Scimitar: fast, but "specialized" ...The rs combat system currently does not allow for anything more complicated to really bring out the differences between the two weapons. I guess if they made a multicombat zone with some enemy wearing chain mail and others wearing plate then you could see a difference.
bedman
mmmm, seems like its pretty even... but it seems like constanti's theory is the most worthwhile(in rs of course, couse zonhorcs' is not bad either, but thats real life) but my question is, whats the best for my specific stats: 66 att 74 str i'm training my def to 80. but i will also prolly train att to 70. so would it be smarter to train att first? i will fight ice giants or maybe mossies (in multi area, so i wont get hit there) maybe ill split question what weapon to wear at 66 att 74 str what weaopon to wear at 70 att 74 str what stat to train first at mossies (not getting hit, so i gues att) ice giants (def is importants since i use less food, so i guess def) A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h! constanti
When you are high, above 50 the scimitar makes the best weapon, below 44 attack and strenght I would say 2-handed
