Achievement/Skill Capes F2P?

Now, first of all, before you all start flaming me, I would like to state something first. I am aware that F2P serves as a 'trial' for mems, and that Achievement/Skill Capes are just one more thing used to make P2P more attractive, so don't make any comments on that.

 

 

 

A believe that Skill Capes should be wearable (aside from wearing one in a P2P world and never taking it off) in F2P worlds. Anyone who has put in the time and effort into getting a 99 stat should be allowed to wear a Skill Cape and reap it's benefits. Perhaps skill capes should not be purchasable in F2P, but they should at least be wearable in F2P (Ex. Buy the Attack Skillcape in a P2P world but still be able to equip it and un-equip it in a F2P world). As far as coding goes, I don' think it would be that complex, skill masters in F2P are already coded so they don't sell skillcapes, so all they have to do is make the cape equipable/uniquipable,and I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be too hard to modify.

I do not agree that F2P is a trial, as a first point.

 

 

 

However, OT:

 

There makes no sense for a members object, that cannot be traded in F2P to become an item that can be equipped or unequipped on F2P. It gives an unfair advantage to people who BH on f2p, when the cape gives them an extra Defense and Prayer bonus.

Perhaps one may think of the benefits they way agility is viewed. If you read the Knowledge Base, you'll find that Agility Bonuses carry onto F2P worlds, giving them an advantage in PVP minigames.

 

However, agility gives you a different ability, one to run away from opponents, it does not give you an advantage combat wise. And unless you have 99 agility, the amount of energy recovered is still not major in comparison to a skill cape's extra defense and prayer bonuses.

 

 

 

Even with 1 agility, you could easily run all the way from the center to the edge of the cave with 100% energy.

Thus such are the benefits of having over 13million exp in a stat. Also, that prayer bonus you mentioned earlier, only applies if the user has two or more stats that are level 99. Based on the conditions that I mentioned earlier, a F2P player that kept their skillcape would be discouraged from bringing it into BH, because he or she would be unable to purchase it again until renewing their subscription. Now, as for members bringing in skillcapes into F2P worlds, they will most probably be in either the Mid Level Crater, or the High Level Crater. Now, in P2P, how many people do you see bringing in skillcapes? In F2P, since the profit there is minimal, thus there would be even less people with skillcapes(It can be assumed that most skillcape owners are higher level more experienced Runescape players and prefer higher stakes). Either way, I can't see anybody being greatly affected by making skillcapes wearable items in F2P.

Sorry to ask, but are Skill Capes tradeable? If not, then sure i'd be ok with P2P to wield/rewield their capes in F2P

 

Plus, Jagex would probably say yes - it would advertise another benefit of members

Yes, skillcapes are untradable and can only be obtained from the masters in their respected stat (for the small fee of 99k).That means when you die in BH with one on, it doesn't drop, it just disappears.

hey i totally agree with you but maybe a skill cape who give no stat bonuses just so you can equip/remove it. Also something like no emote or something plus they cost 2x more in f2p.

I disagree with giving them a hood and cape but I also disagree with giving them nothing. These people clearly play this game enough to deserve a LITTLE something. I say give them the emote but no cape/hood.

you would have a teleport to each of the masters,provided they are in member worlds

 

you will need:1 Law rune 1 Air une and one of the things used in that skill (ie: lawrune,air rune,willow log for fm)

 

 

 

example

 

 

 

FG=Firegate,blocks off the member world to f2p, works in p2p for accesing the skillcape seller

 

F=Fire,works as a boundary

1.Don't sell skillcapes on F2P worlds

 

2.Only sell skillcapes to those who have 99 in said stat.

 

 

 

Thus the boundaries you mentioned would not be needed. Nonetheless that is off-topic, what this thread is about is making Skillcapes an item obtainable only in P2P, but usable in F2P.

I disagree from a business standpoint.

 

 

 

Jagex gives f2p tastes to give them more incentive to get members. A f2p'er getting a 99 in a skill takes an extremely long time compared to members, and that time would tell Jagex that said player is not planning on getting members. And in that case, where's the incentive to give them anything?

What you are suggesting is that some one who is not paying Jagex any money for members beifits yet had in the past, gets to freely shocase his achievments.

 

WHILE

 

People who are paying the same amount of money to Jagex (which is nothing), and have not formerly paid Jagex for membership benifits, do not get to showcase his achivements that took him 3 times as long to acomplish.

 

 

 

Membership benifits should stay in members world. In my opinion members should have all their items unequiped when they enter a free world.

I think they should get the achievement capes, but maybe with lesser stats. Since skills are harder to get 99 on f2p.

Don't make skillcapes sellable to F2P. Thats obvious. Just allow people to use skillcapes in F2P - but if used in Bounty Hunter the cape is sent to the bank (if there is the unlikely occaison of no bank space, the cape is sent to the grand exchange and instead takes up one of your sell slots eventhough it cannot be sold. If no grand exchange slots are available, it is placed into your inventory
