How2PK
Here are some of my favorites. review (not by me) The wrinkles are because of the plastic that is still around the head. It is 1:1. review here (again, not by me) Those are two for the eye candy. The content of especially the second isn't that fantastic. Here are some boxsets with amazing content. I think my favorite box set is this one: fantastic movies, great extras (quality and quantity!), great cover art. And a very thick booklet with more info on the man and his movies. Review here. Film Noir Classics Vol. 4 I absolutely love the film noir collection series by Warner. They have put out 4 so far (they are all one sale at amazon now! from 40 to 25 dollars or something? Volume 4 even from 60 to 30!). And the 4th one is my favorite so far. 10 movies, and for noir buffs and the cinephile as well this is an absolute must. That is because of the selection of movies. Instead of the big ones they all go for kind of 'forgotten' classics by some of the masters of American cinema. I mean: Fred Zinneman, John Sturges, André de Toth, Don Siegel, Anthony Mann and of course one of the best movie makers of all time: Nicholas Ray. Who wouldn't want movies made by those guys in one box. And that for only 30 dollar! My next choice is a box released by the Masters of Cinema. It's a box with three classics by Japanese Director: Mikio Naruse. It's the first release of Naruse' movies in the Western world. And since then some of his other movies got released as well. BFI released a three movie box, and Criterion released one movie of him as well. Fantastic movies, great packaging; sturdy case, three keepcases with great artwork, a book that goes with a lot of information, essay and discussions about the man and his movies. A must for the fans of Yasujiro Ozu's movies. Masters of Cinema is a label to keep an eye on by the way, for the Europeans amongst us at least. Fantastic releases of Japanese classics (mainly 50s and 60s) and German Silents, and a lot of lesser known classics from all over the world. And any label that brings out more Mizoguchi in the world should get more attention! And for now my last choice: the 'Ningen no Joken' trilogy. Fantastic trilogy (one of the best ever made in my eyes), that had a very short release in the US (impossible to get for years!) and a Dutch DVD label released them last year. Which is an incredible thing, because here in Holland there can't be more than what, 200, people that buy it? But in this way I could finally see it! Nice booklets with every movie. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
Jaziek
that alien set is eyegasms. Its nice that some distribution companies will sometimes take a financial blow to get a good set out for the devoted fans. It shows that they are in touch with consumers. either that or they have absolutely no business sense.
