Shows with "Group Dynamic", are there any left?

Featured Replies

To clarify on the topic title, I am referring to shows that focused on a group of friends, who usually spent the majority of their time together and often hung out in afew specific locations.

Some well known examples include Friends, Buffy/Angel, Saved by the Bell, 90210, and Dawsons Creek.

The styles of such shows vary wildly, be it the age range of the cast and targetted demographic, some focus more on comedy whereas others more on drama, etc...

However, the one thing that they all have in common is the "Group Dynamic".

From roughly the late 80s, to the early 2000s, there were several shows like that. Nowadays, I cannot really think anything on TV aside from maybe "How I met your mother" that is even similar.

So what happened to them all? Are there any shows like that left?

You forgot one of the greatest shows of all time in your list: Seinfeld. Eliminate Buffy and put in Seinfeld.

But yes, I do agree. They aren't as common, it's more focused on the family group shows. I think the group of friends thing was kind of a 90s deal.

The Drew Carey show was like that, too. Only a few scenes; Drew's cubicle, Drew's house, and the Warsaw Tavern. And always just those same people.

But as for nowadays, I'm drawing a blank.

Could try Spaced if you like British/surreal/pop culture comedy. Written by and starring Simon Pegg, who did Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

There's always How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. Even though That 70's Show is over, it's a really good show that fits your description and reruns are on all the time.

Scrubs i guess. It has a smallish central cast of friends, and the all hang out in 1 place for the most part.

plus its scrubs. So y'know.. watch it regardless.
