I looked around and didn't see, to my knowledge, of any Photo Manipulation Contests. Right now, I wish to try and gather some interest of people that might like to participate in such a contest. Read below for basics and rules.

 

 

 

 

 

Rules

 

Basically the same rules work around SOTW. You have a week to get the project in and then voting is to be held to establish a winner. The only difference is that there will be a picture supplied for you each week and you work off of it, not exactly "your own work". Your own work comes in with the manipulation you provide, which is described below.

 

 

 

Basics

 

If you participated in eBaum's famous version, you know how this works. Basically, I'd supply a new photo each week. Your task is to copy/paste the picture into a given photo-editing program of your choice (most commonly used is Photoshop or MS Paint). The general idea is to add/edit funny, clever, or randomness to the picture. See below for a basic example, provided by an eBaum participant.

I don't think this would work, maybe a better known person might want to start it up. Your edited photo isn't very good either, that might put people off. Good idea, but needs building on.

It seems like quite a good idea. You'll need to get support from alot of people though.

I just can't see this work. The Gallery focuses more on serious artwork rather than quick, 'funny', but pretty bad edits. Also, I wouldn't really call this a manipulation contest, it's more like a 'funny' edits contest. In other words, I think the title would put people of, because they would expect something more serious from a thread called 'Photo Manipulation Contest'.

Agreed with Jopie. We've had some photomanip signature contests, and those were liked alot. By the TIF gallery standards, you could hardly call your examples a photomanip.

TBH. Thats not a photomanip. Take your contest somewhere people actually want it. If you do a landscape I might appreciate it more.

That's my point, though. Given a new title (for the sake of pleasing EVERYONE, apparently), I wanted to know the odds of the interest level. I could have called it the Photo Bamboozling and the content would have stayed the same. If it doesn't fit this forum's theme because there is alot of 'seriousness' going around, that is fine. Just don't preach to me that it isn't manipulation because, well, it is.

Well I think you've got your answer to the interest question in the title now, I doubt a lot of people will be entering this contest on this forum. Maybe somewhere else people will like it, but it just doesn't work here.

 

 

 

I don't see why you're being so overly defensive about this, you asked a question and received a honest answer. If you still want to organize this, then by all means, go ahead and do so, but just don't expect most people to like it.

It is a photo-manipulation, just not a good one and not funny at all.

 

 

 

 

 

I wouldn't mind it if they were something like they have on SA (like photoshoping animal hybrids or something) but I don't know if it would get good reception here, most people are stuck to simple post-process work for their 'photo manipulations'.
