"HP Pavillion S7720" - Graphics card [Answered]

Featured Replies

Nadril suggest a "GeForce 7500LE" but I can't find it in any of the large Swedish internet stores, Do you know any alternatives? I can't search for it as It's a smaller size then normal cards? And I don't know anything about the different sizes at all so I would easily pick wrong size myself.

It should be able to play "Counter Strike:Source" or something similar.

Also, shipping is quite expensive isn't it? :|

[hide=Old problem fixed thanks to Nadril]Well I already know what kind of ram I need for it. The question is, It's 2 contacts for Ram in there so I could fit 2 1 Gigs in there (Max is 2gb ram). It's on 1gb ram at the moment and I wonder if it's 2 512mb ram sticks there or 1 gb stick there. I tried searching on google but I can't figure out which keywords I should include for that information.

I don't really want too open it up yet as I'm always on the safe side.

Also if possible, I think it's a horrid graphics card and I'm thinking of getting a new one, any suggestions? (It's a really compact computer so I think it have to be a extra small graphics card, I'm thinking of playing games like "Counter Strike: Source" or something similar (Not like CoD4 or Crysis as it's overkill).[/hide]

GeForce 7500LE

For source games I think the 7500LE "should" be enough, I remember a friend playing them on an FX5500 and I could run them on all highs with a 6600GT.

As far as ram goes another 1GB stick (240 pin) would be best to put you up to 2GB.

Thanks a lot Nadril, saved me a lot of trouble as I'm not good at upgrading computers physically (Or finding the right ram, my step dad did it for me).

Im pretty sure that an 8400GS will be better than a 7500LE, as I have one and it is rather small.

To the OP: my impression is that you already have a 7500LE installed. This should be able to play counter strike already, no need for an upgrade.

It sounds like you also have onboard (judging by the link from Nadril). Make sure your monitor is plugged into the bottom video port (near the bottom of the computer).

Yeah I'm going by the fact that you already have one mate.

Oh, but I can only play Counter Strike:Source with a whole 5 fps :|, Would it be better after the ram upgrade?

What port is your monitor plugged into? You may be plugged into the onboard graphics and have been using that all of this time. You should not be getting5fps with a 7500LE, Counterstrike is not a very demanding game.

You may need to upgrade the drivers, but do the above first, just to make sure.

Well there is "one" opening with a little "Black monitor" next too it, correct? (Can't place it anywhere else)

I've never needed to upgrade my drivers before so I have no clue, any tips on that?

Thanks, I need to download CS:S again, uninstalled it before as 5 fps wasn't any good and it just take up space.

I'll report back if it works (Or not).

Houston we have a problem:

Makes me think I have a completely different card?

I also noticed a HP Pavillion S7720".sc" after the name, which might have confused up some thing :wall:? Sorry for my mistake.

Integrated graphics :wall:.

That would explain a lot. 5fps sounds kind of normal for Intel graphics. I would still upgrade the drivers but it still may not be able to play CS. Click software and driver downloads from the left hand side of the link you provided.

Now since this is a small case you may have a problem with getting a full sized graphics card. It says it does have a pci-express slot but you may need to look for a low profile card.

The ram you need is 200pin laptop ram also.

It's already updated but thanks a lot for your help, I think my step-dad found a good graphics card (Hopefully, he said something about it at least).
