[!] Firemaking Pixel - Wip.

So here is an old pixel i'm working on in my spare time.

 

I'm not a great pixeller..

 

But i like the way this is turning out, i just need small pointers and advice throughout the signature.

 

I want to make it quite exciting but still focus on the character.

 

I need ideas for the foreground, plus i can't position the firemaking cape.

 

So if anyone has in game pictures of someone wearing a skill cape would help alot.

 

It is very rough and any advice, constructive criticism or tips are very well apprciated.

 

Anyways, here is the signature so far..

what am i making you a sig for this ones great :thumbsup: i remember it from way back.

 

 

 

as for advice on making it exciting id say fix its eyes to look at the person who is viewing the sig. when a character in a drawing looks at you, it adds much more to it. so thats the first exciting part. the next would be to add animals (if you want him to be the only person)

 

 

 

 

 

and by the way, the shoulder pad thing is off of perspective to how his shoulder is actually positioned.

 

 

 

 

quick tweak shows how this lays on his shoulder. and how much more eye grabbing the character becomes?

I think i should spread it out more aswell, since i need to add the skill cape tassils on the front of him aswell..

i need to spread out his shoulder so i can fit the tassel.

 

but i'm really stuck on drawing it over.. :|

The character really needs some work-

 

~The head's too big... (Shoulders should be at least 2 heads wide)

 

~Pecs(it's a dude, right?) need to be a bit bigger... like []|_|_|[], not [ ]|_|_|[ ]

Cowboy's edit is great, I'd definitely try to do those things he showed you. Obviously the background still needs some work too, and the grass doesn't look very realistic. It's better to manually pixel it instead of just using the spray can tool, yes the result may look decent, but also pretty boring. If you look at a photo of RL grass, you'll see it looks more like little plants and not like a lot of dots.

I think it looks really good! One thing I would say to add would be some light on his hair. Like small white patches outlined with grey so it looks like the fire is casting some sort of light on to his head.
