So I've got an extra monitor sitting in my basement and I'm considering hooking it up so I have monitors because I've been doing a lot of graphic design lately and it's been a bit of a hassle always trying to minimize windows, reopen others, etc. So basically, I want more room to work with but I've got 1 question. My current monitor is 19" and the extra one I have is 17". I'm just wondering if everything is going to work out alright because I've really only seen 2+ monitors together when they're the same size..

Yeah it will. I use a 22" wide and 17" flat at home and it works out. The only thing is if, on the larger monitor, you're moving your mouse to go to the other the mouse will seem to "jump" because of the resolution difference. However it's never been a problem.

I've currently got my normal monitor using a dvi-to-vga adapter so it plugs straight into my graphics card. That means I still have my normal dvi slot open.. Should I even bother trying to hook up the second monitor to that dvi slot or should I just get in the car head out to get another dvi-to-vga adapter for the second slot on my graphic card?

It doesn't matter. DVI is clearer but you shouldn't notice a difference.

 

 

 

If the monitor can use dvi, use it instead of vga.

In my case, I'm running dual monitors by having my 9600 using a DVI-VGA adapter on one monitor, and a DVI slot on the other, since it's cheaper than buying two DVI cords.

I couldn't get my normal monitor to work via the dvi slot so I just put out the $15 to get another dvi-to-vga adapter a little while ago, rearranged my desk, and I'm enjoying having two monitors :)
