Service Pack 2

Featured Replies

Since the new graphics came out for RuneScape, I'm required to install service pack 2 for the new java updates. I tried two times to install windows service pack 2 through the icon in the system tray. The installation runs fine until half way when it stops and i get the error "Access Denied." I have no idea what this means, if anyone could help me find a way to install service pack 2 it would be very helpful.

Make sure your anti-virus and other protection is disabled and you are installing this on an administrator account.

BTW I would suggest SP3 since it's newer and you will probably be prompted to update to that after SP2 anyway. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and download sp3.

I got it ::' I installed a recommended update before service pack 2 which probably helped, or 3rd times a charm

Ya, it was released in 2004, 4 years ago! and now, SP3 is already out!

Great updates like installing service pack always causes problems. If I were you, I would reinstall Windows (with SP3 slipstreamed). A complete reinstall may take 2 or 3 hours (incl time needed to reinstall softwares back), but a updating from SP1 to SP2 then to SP3 may take much longer and prone to frustrating failures.
