iuqiddis_sm
hi I stopped playing runescape about 2 years ago, and I'm thinking of maybe getting back in. When i left, Pest Control was the way to level up melee. I was wondering : 1. whether PC is still the best way to level up if I don't care about slayer or hunting or whatever? 2. My melee stats around around 80 attack/def/str I think. Is there a better, affordable, general weapon out there than the whip. Its been 2 years. There must be something out there. For me, lets say affordable is 2 to 5 million gp. 3. Is there any crazy armor that's not degradable out? Besides dragon i mean. Lets say, I can afford armor from 5 to 15 million gp. Thanks a lot. If i have any more questions, I'll put them up. -Warriorxxxx

When i left, Pest Control was the way to level up melee. I was wondering : 1. whether PC is still the best way to level up if I don't care about slayer or hunting or whatever? it got nerfed by alot, but its probably one of the best ways for combat 100+ 2. My melee stats around around 80 attack/def/str I think. Is there a better, affordable, general weapon out there than the whip. Its been 2 years. There must be something out there. Italian5kamikaze
The sara sword is as good as a whip but its two handed so no shield or anything and is more than 5m anyways. Pc isnt too great of exp anymore, but for armor you could consider a fighter torso and bandos tassets. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes. Deathmath
All of the above is true. Helm of netzinot is great. Also black mask for slayer. PC would not be the fastest, but it certainly would not be snail slow. Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again

SHIELZZZ69
there isnt really a weapon out there for what your looking for, bandos armour is good for defence and strength bonus and does not degrade 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. In the past 2 days I've made 7.2m on top of that thanks to Bounty Hunter. So why play for 3 years when you can do that? iuqiddis_sm
thanks for all the replies guys. I'll definitely look into Bandos armor. It seems that now there are better ways to train melee besides PC. Can you guys give me some places to start off with? Once again, thanks a lot. -warriorxxxx
Italian5kamikaze
Ive never personally tried them but I hear yaks are good exp, monkey guards and giant skeletons are also decent. Quit. nerdattack16
1. Not really, these days. If you're not into grinding, then I'd totally say "Slayer all the way" for combat. Varied locales and monsters, and there's decent coin to be had throughout. If you're not a fan of Slayer, then the options are wide. Anything undead is great (giant skeletons, ankous) if you have a salve [e] amulet. You've got your yaks, experiments, flesh crawlers, giant monkeys... can't say much here since I just use Slayer all the time. 2. With that budget, you're basically stuck with the whip and dragon scimitar. They're still both very good for training attack/defense and strength respectively, when coupled with a defender. A Saradomin sword is a good option for strength training - speed and strength of a whip with a good special, but two-handed - but it's out of your price range at around 8-9m, I believe. 3. I've tried Bandos tassets, and personally, I don't think they're worth the 12m for marginally more defense and strength than a dragon plateskirt. Honestly, I'd just say buy Torag's for the tough stuff and a rune platebody plus dragon skirt for weaker enemies. The 11 million you'd save on Bandos by buying Torag's would repair it many, many times over. Plus, as long as you can make 330k in fifteen hours of combat, then you won't have to worry about the repair costs. Sig credit goes to ThruItAll. :D
SHIELZZZ69
Train at bandits camp in the pub, south of bedamin camp and use full guthans all the way. They hit you for bits and pieces but the healing method ownes them. I'd also recommend slayer for you. Do smoking kills and use Sumona or whatever her name is in pollivneach. Hellhounds are a way to go along with dragons for good xp. The strongest man in the world is the man who walks alone. 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. In the past 2 days I've made 7.2m on top of that thanks to Bounty Hunter. iuqiddis_sm
hmm, I guess at this point I'm also considering barrows armor, specifically guthans. I'm willing to splurge on it, but can you guys point out some creatures that will be worth killing with guthans, like the bandit example shielzzz69 gave. Italian5kamikaze, are the yaks you are talking about lvl 20? or something else entirely? I don't know any other yaks. Once again thanks. -warriorxxxx
