I hope the trailer isn't just a big hype-up kinda thing like the 300 trailer. That trailer built up this epic anticipation and the movie didn't deliver in my opinion..

The trailer looked great, seems like everyone on the comic book websites also agree. I was a little worried about how they would be doing Dr. Manhattan but it looks good to me :D .

 

 

 

Still not coming out until March 2009 though so you don't want to get too excited too early. I was planning on re-reading the graphic novel sometime but I want to wait closer to when the movie comes out. For those also waiting they are reprinting Absolute Watchmen for November 12th this year.

I read the Watchmen series on your word Indy (in that old comics thread), and it was great! The best comic books I've ever read! But also the only comic books I've ever read...Any more suggestions?

 

 

 

I'm really excited. That Dr. Manhattan part at the very end of the trailer...you can actually pick out the panel they are doing there, and it's almost exactly the same. Looks very faithful to the graphic novel. I hope the studio lets Zac Snyder make the 3+ hour movie that he wants. Word has it he will also release a 4.5hr directors cut on dvd. =P~ .

A lot of people never give comics a chance, and it's sad because they are an entertainment media just like books of movies. Glad you tried it, it does take a little getting used to the format of reading a speech bubble then looking at the picture or vice versa and some people can't stand it. Which is fine as long as they give it a good try. I'm especially glad that you tried it and ended up liking it.

 

 

 

Suggestions from here on in will be harder since in my opinion you have read the greatest one of them all. My second favourite would have to be the Sandman by Neil Gaiman, which many usually choose over Watchmen as the best. It is 60 issues though where Watchmen was 12, so you have to set aside more time for it.

I think you mentioned Sandman last time. I've since looked around at the book store, and they have a few issues, but I might have to go on amazon or something when I get my credit card (soon).

 

 

 

Also, def gotta check out Southland Tales comic/movie, if they have the comics at the comic book store.

When I saw the trailer before batman I got pretty excited because of how amazing it looked even though I had no idea what it was. I can't wait. There is a watchman motion comic download on itunes for free.

I've been following The Watchmen since the director put up a blog/video journal thing last fall.

 

I personally loved 300, so I kept a close eye on what Snyder would be doing next, then this popped up.

 

I doubt the movie could live up to the graphic novels' reputation, but I think the movie will be a hit.
