Air altar became scammer heaven, Jagex WTF are you?

Featured Replies

Dear TIF-ers,

Today I write to you again about the air temple. Nowadays it is overcrowded with people pretending to have 88+ rc and give x9 airs, I call them xp scammers. It has been going on for a few months now and I am getting really sick and unhappy about it. I am one of the players that got his 94 runecrafting (nearing 95) due to hard work and devotion to a nice skill. As I am pure f2p I don;t have all those tinkers and bells p2p got, so all I got is my air temple for 30k xp a day. Why are these noobs claiming to have a runecrafting level as high as me? Is it really necessarily to take away runecrafting xp from the hard working air runner? Is it really necessarily to annoy me and other real crafters and take away our runners? Why won't you freaking go and get a good runecrafting yourself without abusing others?

My next remark is that the air temple can be a hostile place now and then. Today I met a runecrafter named "chin hunting" as I am a level 124 combat, and I have 94 runecrafting I am clearly better than him with 89 runecrafting an 87 combat. Suddenly he starts calling me a scammer and a noob to draw away people from me, which not only looses me time but also my credibility. Why are there (cabbages) like this walking around there? And where is Jagex in all this? I finally found a mod around that helped me muting this guy for rule 9, as he was telling other people to report me for scamming.

Thus in conclusion I can say the air altar in world 16 has become a very sad place, and I don;t get it why Jagex haven't made a statement about this yet. As far as I know xp scamming is also a large problem in the nature runecrafting world and still Jagex has not stated how we can fix this. I am getting angry at Jagex, I am getting angry at the scammers, and I think that I will be reported for offensive language before Jagex even bothers to look into this annoying habit that some people have created in runescape.

Now I hear you saying: Only noobs scam in the altars. This is not true, I have seen many, many people with a high combat level and high other levels getting the xp from the inexperienced runners and I am growing tired of this. it is too bad I can not make a database of the scammers to make them look bad on these forums. I hope maybe for this one time the moderators and administrators of this board will see the problem and allow me to honestly make screenshots of any scammer and post them on a topic. :| :(

[hide=for any assist scammers that are online here]I hope you will get banned from runescape and if I might find you irl...... (censored)[/hide]

Too bad I can;t use slang language on these forums, you should see me now IRL

P.S. you can reply after you have red it..... I see 18 views, 0 reply's ....

Whell I think you can report them for item scamming since they are lying to others to gain more.

You must not scam or deceive other players. And lying to other players for your own personal gain is not in the spirit of fair play.

That could go under Rule 1 and 9. 1 because he' s spamming the chat with gibberish and 9 because he' s encouraging others to report you thus misusing the report button.

Noob is not a level, it' s an attitude

Atleast I think Omali wrote that and something like that.

Whell that' s that for me, hope it helps in any way. And I do hope I got my posts right, I' m a bit drunk :ohnoes: .

RSN:Mico1311 Combat: 82 Highest skill: Fishing 75 Playing time: From around August 2003

The guy in my avatar is Veso, a comedian mastermind.

No problem being drunk can increase your runescape joy :)

As for the first part sadly Jagex things otherwise.... I was muted for 1 day for sending too many reports on item scamming.... They should make a good statement about what and where we can report these xp scammers for

Whell guess I in my drunken state can see the wrong better than Jagex in their multy million budget.

I vote Mico to be drunken mod of the year please

hey maur!

i agree with your points. i too find it very pathetic of people coming in at w16 airs to gain a few k rc xp. i've personally been assisting there since january and have lived with this problem on a daily basis. some try their luck for a few minutes, others come back following days or assist at different times. if they're really serious about raising their rc, they'd simply make their own runes instead of wasting our time.

it is pretty astonishing that jagex hasn't dealt with this problem yet. a very simple solution would be to show lvls of the assister to the person requesting the assist (on his or her stats tab). this would eliminate dishonest people trying to get unfair xp.

btw, it's also sad that you were called a scammer by a fellow assister. i've been called a liar too a couple of times mostly by runners and once i recall by an assister... probably because of what was my low cb lvl :(.

best regards,

I thought that what assisting is for?

So you're upset at Jagex that players are lying about their level and deceiving you out of their skill services.

Back up for a minute. When did it become Jagex's job to check each player's skills, and make sure that you're really getting what you asked for?

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

Same day skill assists came out.

Personally, I'd like to see it where you can advertise your skill assists in a certain skill, and the skill symbol and level will appear over your head.

it never became Jagexs job to do that, a simple solution would be showing the skill lvl next to the assist interface.

O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O

O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O

O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O

That's such a genius, valid, easy to implement, and useful solution that Jagex would never think of it.

But really, I think we should get a member to post this idea and the supporting arguments on the official RS forum boards. All that would really need to be done is a requester-side option panel to actually choose the skill and see the level.

I think along with showing the level of the skill, you could also click in your own skills tab and have a glowing or highlighted assisted skill, showing the level of the player you're being assisted by.

You know, if 3/4 of the RS community weren't naïve children/or had half a brain, they would double check these people on the freaking HI-SCORES. Alas, brains isn't a strongpoint in this game, is it? You have to be at least Level 88 for X9 Airs, so wouldn't that person be in the hi-scores?

Don't worry about the scammers, if you were smart, you'd check the Hi-Scores, see if they were telling the truth, then report them for lying. It's considered item scamming. Then, if they start accusing you, ignore them, and if they encourage others to report you, report him for encouraging others to break rules. Simple.

G'luck. :)

Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D

In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)

I'll admit that it would be a nice function to the Assist function. However, that doesn't mean that the player is absolved from making sure that they're getting what they asked for. Back before we even had this system, we had no other choice but to look the other player up. Why can't people do that until a newer method is implemented?
