Memebership Cost, Should We Recieve Better CS?

[hide=1 July 2008 - Price changes for new subscribers]

For new subscribers becoming members on or after the 18th August, the monthly cost for a RuneScape subscription will increase 30p in the UK, $0.95 in the US and by similar amounts in other currencies. These are examples of the credit card prices - all other payment types will be increasing by a similar margin. If you are an existing member, or you subscribe before the 18th August, this price change will not affect you, as long as you keep your membership valid.

If you are an existing member and you allow your membership to lapse for more than two weeks (after the 18th of August), you will be charged the new rate when you re-subscribe.

RuneScape subscription costs have not changed since RuneScape memberships started in 2002, over 6 years ago! Inflation and exchange rates mean we are having to adjust our prices slightly.

We, the loyal Customers of RuneScape are having to pay extra if we pay our membership after it expires, for myself in this example, i usually wait a week after mine died before deciding to renew it. but if were paying extra for Membership, shouldn't we also be entitled to Better Customer Support? CS as been horribly lacking in the past few months, Unfair bans / Unfair Mutes are becoming unbelivably popular. and if we needed to message CS for one reason or another, we cant as its been removed from the front page. Discuss, If we pay extra as it is should we be entitled to better Customer Support?

Personally i believe we should be entitled to Customer Support for if we need to lodge a complaint, Quiery or Something Else, we cant. instead we have to post it in RSOF which im banned from as i got hacked and "apparently spammed" when i had proof i wasnt in control. but reguardless, i know simular situations have happened to others. Some even worse, but we still yet have no way to contacting them to notify of "Their Error"

I'm not necessarily sure what your complaint is about CS. As far as I know, CS is doing alright, handling only the most serious of situations, like locked/banned accounts (yes there is a way to query it, no it is not on the forums), complaints, suggestions, and so-forth. It's a vast improvement to the archaic CS system, where you could get a reply from a JMod, and depending on the nature of it, have another JMod completely reverse the 'official' answer.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

Well, lately, Jagex has been making a lot of updates, for good or bad. So naturally, they are receiving a huge amount of complaints. They probably don't have enough peopl in CS to completely help everybody right now.

Doctors repeat themselves because they have nothing better to say......

We should get good customer support regardless of what we pay, assuming that we pay at all. Of course, I have yet to see that happen.

Y'know, it sure is a good thing I didn't post that on the RSOF, some overzealous mod would probably go into the longwinded speech about how there really are real people answering every complaint and message.. Even when I'm talking about the quality of CS, not the roboticity/non-roboticity of the answerer..

There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

Customer Support are likely doing the best they can. It's unfortunate, but they're simply understaffed. I think that Jagex need to hire more people to work on it, but for now, I'm perfectly happy with what we're getting. I mean, you pay 5$ a month. Do you expect to get the customer service of WoW, where you can contact a GM at any time? No, because that costs 10$ extra every month. They can't do everything, but they're doing everything they can, and really, it's enough.

Being immature is a part of being mature.

This thread made me think about our current real-life Social Services...

We are facing increases in the cost of living, while the police are allowed 3 hours-3days to respond to our emergency calls.

You're right actually. You always hear horror stories about 'Oh, the ambulance took four hours to arrive' and 'The cops were right there and they never did anything'. We shouldn't expect any better, should we? Hmm...

Well compareed to our real-life situation and the variance in severity, i'd say we're doing alright in Runescape.
