Robert_de_Sable
I'm trying to figure out how to break even while fletching. Someone on the new Hyt chat told me it was possible and I can't figure out how. What I'd be doing is buying yew logs, turning them into yew longs (u) and then stringing them. But..... Yew logs= 406 each. Bow strings= 201 each, and yew longbow= 588 each. profit loss of 13 per bow. Help, anyone? Sy_Accursed
The big secret of breaking even is to not buy it, or not all of it You cut your own logs then buy bs. blakdragon39
You can also spin the bowstrings out of your own flax if you want too, which would be shorter than chopping all the yews. However, you would make a lot less profit from that than if you chopped the yews. It's up to you though. If you're only looking to break even I'd say buy the flax and make your own bowstrings. Exodus_Flesh
13gp/175 xp isn't a bad loss (13xp/gp). You will hardly lose any money to 99, and can easily make it back later.. If you're really set on not losing money, just collect one of your own supplies.. I personally spun half of the flax needed to 99, then just bought the rest of the bowstrings, and broke even.. hence the log chopping option is better is makes a bigger profit at the end AND logs are worth less than bows And cutting the yews yourself is slower than simply spinning enough flax.. It might be faster for YOU, but you have 99 Woodcutting, whereas he only has 73.. And logs will come slower for him. ~Zackdt

No Did the original poster say anything about speed of the method? No The question was how to make profit off fletching, I answered giving the best way to make profit off fletching. Nowhere in the thread other than your repsonce has anyone said a thing about speed. Equally 99 wc does not make yews or any other tree that much faster, it still takes a HELL of alot of time to get a substantial amount of logs. By the time you hit 80 wc every tree is basically maxed out speed wise, whihc means for his 75 wc yews would only be marginally slower than for me. TheHunted616
The secret is to not care about money and stop being greedy. I know it sounds mean, but if you aren't so greedy, you won't care about that 13 gp loss per bow.
lcchs
i just use mtk and fletch the maple logs, slower then yews but u can use the bird nest for herblore and seeds for farming unless u want to sell for profit
snake6man
the 13gp loss is absolutly nothing. fleching a yew log into a bow(u) and then stringing it take about 6 seconds total, so you can only do 10 in a minute. 13x10=130gp per minute. 130x60= 7,800gp per hour, lol. thats about 3 loads of flax. not a big deal at all.
