Slayer Helm or Experience? [Answered]

After a month of off-and-on slaying, I've finally completed 23 Duradel tasks, giving me just over 400 slayer points. It seems like everyone goes straight for the Slayer Helmet with their first 400, but I don't really see the point of it. Sure, it helps with Abberant Spectre and Dust Devil tasks, but I rarely get those tasks anyway, so the helm would only be a defence boost for the most part. I've been thinking about skipping the helm and going straight for the raw Slayer experience reward, but I can't decide.

Which is the better choice, and why? Also, how much experience does the experience reward give?

So for 23 tasks, you're going to get 10k experience that you could have gotten in fewer than two tasks? How silly. You should definitely go for the slayer helm, but if you really don't want it, at least get the ability to make slayer rings or broad bolts, or save the points to ban tasks you don't like.

Even if you had filled up your ban list and bought all 3 abilities, you'd be giving up 2.75k deaths and 11k minds to get 10k slayer exp. Do you really think it's worth 80 gp/xp?

This. Once you've unlocked all items, just spend your points on the slayer dart runes.

Also, I banned 2 tasks before I bought the helm, getting the remaining points was more fun this way ::'
