Gold bars going up

Anyone have any ideas why gold bars have been [bleep]ing in price over the last 30 days or so, after sitting at 180 for months?

I hear a lot of people have been buying to make various bracelets and then high-alch, perhaps finally the huge stockpiles many people had of gold bars are on the wane?

Yessir. I'd say that, along with more people at blast furnace making other things.

It would be a lot easier to answer if the G.E. database showed trade volumes for items that don't make the top 100, and 30 day histories of trade volumes. I would really love to see both of those features added, it would make merchanting more of a science and less of a gamble.

 

 

 

Did gold bars used to show up on the top 100 sellers back when the price was stuck at the 180 gp bottom limit?

I would think that it would make the gold bar price go down because more gold ore in the market.

 

 

 

But I think the main reason is that people realize that there's free crafting xp in this. Some people who are rich enough use the spell "string amulet" for fast magic xp. They need a lot of unstrung amulets to do this. There is a 100 limit on gold amulets I think, so a lot of times they ask friends/go on forums to buy gold/any other amulets. And since gold amulets are worth more than gold bars: Free crafting xp. Also people buy gold bars to make bracelets, which don't loose as much as other crafting methods and you can alch them.

 

 

 

Of course it could be some wanna-be price manipulator at work :P.
