Your better to use a Maple Short Bow and Iron arrows over a Crossbow, as they experience is going to be considerably less due to the fact you do not hit as high. Full stop. They are useless, a Normal Short Bow is the equivalent of them. Since you are limited on money, maybe you could try the Minotaur's instead.
