Zombie Panic Source

Anyone else played this? It's a free mod for Half life 2 that pits a team of human survivors (who get no respawns against a team of zombies (who get a handful of respawns). The humans start off with the advantage as they have numerical advantage and a good supply of weapons. The first little bit of a match consists of humans run around picking off zombies and collecting ammo and guns. They start to build barricades in small rooms with one or two ways in. This part is basically a slaughter, however when the match wears on the humans run low on their limited supply of ammo. Eventually they run out of ammo and have to switch to melee weapons such as golf clubs or crowbars. This part of the match becomes very intense, as you can see and hear the undead groaning and clawing at the walls of the barricade. You sit there and count your 3 remaining shotgun bullets, 5 glock bullets and 1 revolver shot and hope that the zombies don't break through the barricade before time runs out and the military arrive.

Other game modes have the survivors completing objectives to escape from the horde. One map I've played is a section of Ravenholme from HL2, where the survivors have to break down a barricade to get to a lever, which leads to them jumping over a gap into a building, where they break down another barricade and escape.

The hook to the game is the panic hotkey. The more items you carry (guns, ammo, melee weapons) the slower you become. For example, if you carry a max load of weapons, then you move slower than the zombies. If you hit the panic hotkey, you drop all your weapons and can outrun the zombie horde.

I'd recommend to download this, it's a very fun mod with a decent sized community. http://www.zombiepanic.org/

Epic bumping this thread due to me playing this mod for the first time yesterday and thoroughly enjoying it. It really is a great multi player game that you can quickly get into and have a great atmosphere. Due to it being a fairly old mod, it usually only has about 3-4 full servers to join. This does however mean that there are very few griefers and those playing are just playing for fun.

Does anybody want to join me playing it? Add me through steam - http://steamcommunity.com/id/Danqazmlp/

This is probably my second favourite HL2 mod to play, actually. It's awesome fun. The first time I played it I was kinda indifferent, and eventually uninstalled it, but a while me and a bunch of friends downloaded a tonne of HL2 mods, and we tried our hand at this. It was hilarious fun. Haven't played it in a while, so I'm not sure if there's any decent Aus/Asia servers with players anymore. Might have to check it out.

The other two HL2 mods I found really awesome was Hidden: Source and Age of Chivalry. If you like the whole intense kinda gameplay, try Hidden. It's intense, and pretty terrifying sometimes.

Had so much fun earlier. Teamwork is hard with a mismatch of people from various languages and countries, but somehow 4 of us managed to complete a level with about 10 zombies.

Played such a strange map today. It was an obstacle course which went vertical up inside a tower with basically an obstacle on each floor. The zombies started behind a glass wall and were released 30 seconds after the humans. At the top there were masses of weapons and an ammo vending machine which once you got to had to survive for 5 minutes. It was so funny trying to figure out the obstacles for the first few times.
