How to create disc partitions after i installed OS?

Featured Replies

Um...When i was installing Xp today, i was gonna create a disc partitions in the XP setup, but i accidentally hit enter which started the installation and i can't stop before i actually got a chance to create the partitions... So is there a software or a way to create partitions after i installed the OS? I really don't want to install XP all over again... the computer i installed it on is very slow, and it can take up to 2 hours to finish...

GParted Live is a free linux live cd that *just* has gparted on it. You can use it to shrink and resize your partitions. Just let the screen pop up, right click on your primary partition, and click on the Move/Resize option. You can use the little slider in that window.

Before you use GParted Live, please, PLEASE back-up any critical files. Re-partitioning a hard disk is relatively safe, but anything could go wrong.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

How could it be used for a disc, to test out linux before partioning?

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

No, it's the partition tool that's bundled with gnome systems on it's own disc. It's a linux livecd that has _nothing_ on it but a partition program.

And it works nicely.

Just with any other program that does the same thing you need to watch what you're doing... like me just now formatted the wrong partition
