Recommended Posts

Ok, so I want to play rs, but everytime i select a world, low or high detail, safe mode or not, I get the message:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:

You are not connected to the Internet.

The website is encountering problems.

There might be a typing error in the address.

I used it a few minutes prior. I logged off, left to watch tv came back and... nothing! . I am pretty sure nothing updated itself in the past 20 mins- 1hour, so I am clueless. Any help?

Also, I virus scanned around 5 hours ago, and I was using hypercam about 2 hours ago. Other that that, All I had was RS open. Also, I am posting this, So my internet is obviously connect

Have you tried rebooting? Sometimes, things in RAM just get in the wrong way and a reboot is needed to clean it up. :)

Also, if you don't wish to reboot, have you tried checking the ip which 'www.runescape.com' exists at? If not, call a Command Prompt, and type in "nslookup www.runescape.com"... (Preferably without the quotes.) You should then see something like this...

(Some DOS pathname here)>nslookup www.runescape.com

Server: (should be the name of your ISP's DNS)

Address: (should be the IP of your ISP's DNS)

Non-authoritative answer:

Name: runescape.com

Addresses: 82.211.114.127, 64.79.147.125, 168.75.184.51, 168.75.183.51, 82.211.114.81

Aliases: www.runescape.com

... as output from that command. If you're not connecting to any of those IPs, then you're probably not getting a link to RuneScape, in which case you need to do an "ipconfig /flushdns", and then try reconnecting. 8-)

If you're still having trouble after all that, please post back and tell us? :-s

Wouldn't he have to completely turn off the machine for a few seconds for the RAM to flush itself?

It loads for me.

To clear the cache, click on Tools, Clear Browser history (or something like that, I'm not on IE7 anymore), and delete all, even what's not online. If it still doesn't work, you can also try to delete the .jagex_cache_32 folder in the C:/WINDOWS folder, I know it worked for me in the past even though the game is much slower for the first time you load it.

That depends on the RAM in your PC... 100% of my RAM-based troubles are cleared with a simple reboot, without any kind of power down happening. ::'

ok, got it working
Could you tell us how you did it, even if it was with something we suggested?!?!? :-s

I doubt it is the RAM but it never just hurts to reboot. In a since Devnull is right that rebooting does fix it be getting the addresses right with the RAM.
