Is this a good idea...?

I have just had an insane idea, which may prove good in the long run.

It basically means selling everything I own and spending all the cash on skills such as prayer/magic/herblore/summoning.

I am only doing this because i'm almost broke anyway (4M cash left :ohnoes:)

Pros: A lot of money going towards skills I don't normally get up (prayer/summoning) \'

The empty bank will force me to skill a lot for cash (fishing fastest?)

It gives me a fresh new start. ::'

Cons: I have absolutely nothing. #-o

It might cause me to stop playing due to repetitiveness of skilling (again, fishing fastest?)

So, is it a good idea?

Are there any break skills you enjoy (melee, range, hunter?) You can keep basic armor or clothing necessary and use your money on skills. When you need to relax, just go back to one or the other :D

I wouldn't say this is a good idea, because I stop half-way after I become that "devoted". It's your opinion from there.

I suggest using this money for some combat equipment, preferably melee and go Slaying or do some other combat-related thing. That should bring you more money, and that extra money should be used on prayer/constrtuction/summoning.

If you don't want to use combat as the money making, try merchanting.

ladycal, you beat me to it :P

It currently is invested in armour, yet I have no interested in fighting just now (even though that is what I am doing) and I would like to raise raw skills such as fishing up to a level in which I can earn easy money.

Yet I lack the motivation to train this skill.

No skills are "easy money". You have to put effort in every one of them.

So if you really want to go train some skills and spend the money, i'd suggest using all the charms first, then splitting the rest of the money between prayer and construction. But always make sure you have 100 or 200k in your bank, in case you need them.

If you won't spend your money, then you should train a skill until it bores you, then switch to another skill or to combat(possibly slayer) until you are ready to train that skill again.

By 'easy money' I mean one that has no high initial cost (fishing only needs feathers, rod and harpoon).

1) I have written up a plan that uses all my charms to their maximum efficiency.

2) I am at 56 prayer, all the cash will get me to 68

3) Currently at 42 construction, no house (demolished) - What use would it serve?

There 2 main skills, thats i know, get you good money the higher you get them, but both tedious...

One being Mining. At 60, do steel bars, at 70, do mith bars, at 85, just mine Rune ore!

Granite is not good cash, cause no one buys it, and is used in summoning pouches.

The other skills is Hunter i believe. Red chin hunting MAY be crowded, but its still money, and it's still good xp.

So i say.... keep all your money, keep it in the bank, mine away and get a bank full of ores and bars!

I did have a notion to mine till 85. I got bored within around 47 minutes.

I know that coal to 85 will net me quite a few million, but I find it so boring.

If I did have no cash, I would be motivated to do it though. :?

Trust me, getting 85 from caol is not fun... I have 520 addy bars to go and I keep putting it off. Mined less than 500 coal this week (used to do 10s of ks in a row)

Woodcutting and hunting are good money skills. And no, I would not waste money on a skill. Get more money, merch it, get more etc, then when you have a couple hundred mil, spend it a bit at a time ;)

Try Ferion, it only takes a few minutes per day; you can play it while mining.

The good way to raise mining: go to al kharid and mine/drop iron. I've never done it but I hear there's a 60k xp per hour way.

I get 15k xp per hour mining coal, but it's acceptable money in f2p.

As a member, I would try the dwarven gold mine thingy with the gold helm and the 100+ veins of gold. With a ring of charos of course.

There 3 good iron places.

F2P - Rimmington mine, mine the 3/4rocks and sell to general store - seconds away (Or drop, your choice)

F2P - Al Kharid mine, dropping. (But the 3 rocks aren't placed like they were now)

P2P - Dno what to call it, so I'll post a pic (It has 3 rocks in the formation like al Kharid use to have)

Granite is STILL good xp, but everyone is conviced that it's worth what it's worth. I STILL drop it, because i know it'll never sell. So... if you think your confident enough to get to 85, and you KNOW you will, then drop the granite cause you'll be making much better money from Rune Ore that acctually SELLS!

If its 60k per hour at Al Kharid tell me what I'm doing wrong ...

As stated above powermining is your best option for fast leveling but it will draw you no profit until your target level.

Powermining iron is really around 30k per hour and up to 40k if you painfully concentrate (which I never do). Of course you being a member have the option of granite, granite is the method that gets you 60k+.

EDIT:

Oh and as far as rune ore cash...its pretty DARN good in my opinion :P (12k an ore). Its a bit slow to earn the cash but if you use a method which I discuss in detail on my mining guide (see signature), it earns you 250-300k every hour and a half to two hours. Not a huge amount of profit fast but hey I can't complain.

Can fishing be compared to mining in the way of money and speed?

Because 61-85 mining the fast way is 0gp (Powermining)

While 61-85 fishing (random level) the fast way is around 50k per 1,000 fish (Shilo Village)
