PhaperPlane
Okay, A few months ago, the only thing I could do in Photoshop was crop, stick, reflect, gradient and other basic stuff. But, a few days ago, I decided I wanted to tackle the beast. After looking at several tutorials, everything seemed to make sense and the penny dropped :D So now, here are my results! (Yeah, they are my first tries, feedback would be brilliant!) So my first one, was a simple, clean avatar. (I have no idea why I chose the Pi symbol, but I thought it looked nice, it is also my current avatar, I do not know why it isn't working) My current Sig below is basically the same above, bigger, and without the Pi Symbol  So then I thought "This looks too easy, I need something harder!" Then I had a stab at "Energy Lines". Here is my outcome; I then began to experiment with that one and add a few more lighting affects: Today I decided to have a go at some glowing text, took me forever to do! The way the tutorial explained it was not very good and confused me a bit. But in the end, I managed to understand it. (It said that this was like making Shaped Cookies :?) I loved the text so I combined the two together and ta-da! Feel free to post thoughts and feedback! (I will be posting some more work soon ;))
Hawks
Not bad, but the gradient (for lack of a better term) shows a lot, if you saved it as a GIF, you should have dithered before you saved as an indexed GIF. Not sure how to do this in PS as I have GIMP. Also link to Text tut plz? sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
ThruItAll
I know how to do it hawk. For glowing text, duplicate your layer and gaussain blur it by 5. Put it under your original text layer, and duplicate it until it looks good, and duplicate it once more, then put it to the top, and gaussain blur that by 17, and set it on grain merge/hard light. For a reflect, duplicate and flip your layer, add a grayscale mask layer mask. Set your gradient tool on difference and do a small gradient. Nice work Phaper, that Pi avvy is nice looking. danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
Jopie211
Not bad at all, you did a good job on the avatar and the glowing text. For now, just keep practising and take a look at even more tutorials (deviantART is a great place for them, and you can find many other resources there too), they really help. Good luck! pixel avvy by me deviantART
