Well to alot of people, country music is crying and whining. No. Its expressing your feelings in a musical way. I agree, some songs are whiny i.e. Hank Williams - Lonesome but most are good, fun, expressive songs.

Only two country albums I've ever liked have both been recommendations from How2PK. Lie Down in the Light by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, and My Name is Buddy by Ry Cooder.

 

I used to be avidly against country to the extent that I would never ever consider liking any country song, but I decided to give it a chance, and there is some pretty good country out there. I'll be checking back on this thread to see who I should check out.

I like a little country here and there. Kenny Chesney is definitely one of my favorites :)

Rascal Flatts counts, right? Love them, one of my favorite bands. And I got to see them live on July Fourth. :

 

They have some of those whiny love songs, I guess, but they also have those cowboy ones. To be honest, I actually prefer the whiny love songs...:uhh:

 

Here, What Hurts the Most and It's Not Supposed to Go Like That are my favorite tracks, favorite album is Still Feels Good by far.

 

Now that I think about it, I prefer Country over a lot of things. I'd say it's up there as one of my favorite genres.
